    Nurse Manager & Quality Advisor, Outreach Administration Office

    Position Summary

    The position holder will provide leadership and oversight of nursing services, quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical governance across the Outreach Division. The role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care through effective management of nursing operations, staff development, quality assurance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and continuous performance improvement initiatives. Working closely with clinic leadership, the incumbent promotes excellence in clinical outcomes, patient experience, and operational efficiency.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for nursing services across Outreach Clinics, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care.
    • Ensure compliance with Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) regulations, professional standards, organizational policies, and applicable healthcare regulations.
    • Lead the development, review, implementation, and monitoring of clinical policies, procedures, protocols, and nursing practice guidelines.
    • Champion quality improvement, patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives across all Outreach Clinics.
    • Coordinate and support accreditation, certification, and regulatory compliance activities, including SafeCare, JCI, or other quality frameworks.
    • Lead quality audits, compliance assessments, and monitoring programs to ensure adherence to established quality and patient safety standards.
    • Analyze clinical quality indicators, incident reports, audit findings, and patient safety data to identify trends and drive improvement initiatives.
    • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA), case reviews, and corrective and preventive action plans arising from adverse events, complaints, and quality concerns.
    • Coordinate the development and monitoring of Quality Variance Reports (QVRs), quality dashboards, and departmental performance reports.
    • Support risk identification, mitigation, and management activities, including maintenance of risk registers and implementation of risk reduction strategies.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, learning, quality, and patient safety through training, coaching, mentoring, and staff engagement initiatives.
    • Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of quality, utilization management, and performance improvement data to inform decision-making.
    • Oversee infection prevention and control activities, including policy implementation, compliance monitoring, staff education, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure effective inventory management, maintenance of clinical equipment, and optimal utilization of resources to support quality service delivery.
    • Lead recruitment, onboarding, staff development, performance management, and retention initiatives for the nursing team.
    • Foster collaboration between nursing teams, clinic leadership, and other stakeholders to achieve operational, clinical, and quality objectives.
    • Develop and implement innovative initiatives aimed at improving patient satisfaction, service excellence, and overall patient experience.
    • Investigate and facilitate timely resolution of patient complaints while identifying opportunities for service improvement.
    • Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, and operational planning to support the achievement of divisional objectives.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) from a recognized institution.
    • Master's degree in healthcare, business, management, or clinical-related field will be an added advantage.
    • Registered Nurse with a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
    • Minimum of 10 years' clinical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting.
    • At least 3 years' experience in a supervisory or management role.
    • Experience in healthcare quality improvement, patient safety programs, SafeCare, JCI, or other accreditation frameworks will be an added advantage.
