Operator at Mabati Rolling Mills Limited (MRM)

MRM Mariakani is seeking to recruit a professional and experienced individual to fill the position of an Operator. The position reports to the Production Engineer.

Overall Purpose of the Position:

Responsible for effective day to day operation of the Annealing plant and equipment.

Specification

1. Control the annealing process – loading, purging, heating, soaking & cooling operations.
2. Read production schedule to determine processing sequence and furnace temperatures for coils to be annealed.
3. Ensure furnace is at the optimum operating conditions for annealing process.
4. Monitor the annealing furnaces to ensure safe operations and handle unsafe conditions to ensure the safety of all employees
5. Measure, record and document batch activities in the charge sheets/daily report.
6. Maintain all annealing parameters – temperature, gas flow & correct sequence of annealing activities to guarantee quality production.
7. Unloading of annealed coils from the bases.
8. Inspect material to ensure required quality standards.
9. Report immediately any equipment issues to the production Engineer & the respective maintenance teams for resolving.
10. Perform 5S activities to ensure an organized and clean work place.

Requirements

1. Minimum academic qualification: Craft Certificate in relevant engineering discipline
2. Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience in Machine Operations in similar work environment

Key competencies and skills:

1. Knowledge on use of measuring equipment such as callipers, micrometres, thermos-guns and tape measures.
2. Ability to comprehend mechanical principles of heat treatment and annealing operations.
3. Record keeping & data interpretation skills.
4. Basic arithmetic and analytical skills.
