Orthotrauma Technologist at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Manipulating and reducing fractures, dislocations and other trauma injuries
• Fixing and applying pre-operative braces, cr and other appliances
• Removing casts, sutures and splints;
• Correcting Congenital Talipes Equino-Varus (C.T.E.V.);
• Assisting in preparing and applying casts and orthopaedic appliances.
• Setting up traction (skin and skeletal)
• Assisting with surgical orthopaedic procedures including wound care, fracture reduction and plastic surgery
• Proper and timely documentation on Hospital Management Information System (HMIS)
• Any other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Job Specifications 
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Diploma in Plaster and Traction Technology/ Orthotrauma technology from a recognized institution with at least 3 years’ work experience.
• Certificate in either Orthopaedic Plaster and Traction Technology or its equivalent 
• qualification from a recognized institution shall be an added advantage
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Registration with the Professional body.
• Fulfilled the requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
