Duties and Responsibilities

• Formulating and reviewing health policies, strategies, guidelines and protocols
• Overseeing provision of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services
• Providing sub-specialized services to patients
• Planning and managing hospital healthcare programs
• Initiating and managing healthcare projects and programs
• Developing intervention activities and programs for training health professionals in community health and health management in hospitals/health facilities
• Initiating and coordinating operational and clinical research
• Facilitating implementation of research findings to improve quality of service delivery
• Coordinating and providing specifications for procurement of health commodities
• Ensuring adherence to health standards and guidelines
• Facilitating training and development of medical services staff
•  Mobilizing resources and promoting partnerships and collaborations with hospital agencies and development partners in promotion of health programmes and projects
• Monitoring and evaluating provision of health services
• Preparing, planning and budgeting for the directorates
• Coordinating capacity development and performance management.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
• Master’s degree in Pediatrics and Child Health.
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
• Current retention certificate
• Valid Practice License.
• Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC
• Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• At least three years of working experience as a Pediatrics and Child Health Specialist in a reputable hospital.
