    Pharmacy Technologist- Gender-Based Violence Recovery Centre

    Overview:

    We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technologist with at least 3 years of experience working in pharmaceutical services. This role will involve not only the standard duties of a pharmacy technologist but also sensitivity and care in working with survivors of violence, ensuring the safe dispensation of medication, particularly to those related to trauma.

    Responsibilities:

    The pharmacy technologist will be responsible for the following:

    • Issuing medicines to survivors and patients, furnishing information and advice to patients with regard to the use of medicines.
    • Counselling survivors and patients on the proper use of drugs they are taking.
    • Determining survivors and patient compliance with the therapy and follow up to ensure that patient’s medicine related needs are being met
    • Evaluating survivors and patient’s medication-related needs by determining the indications, safety and effectiveness of therapy.
    • Involvement in Pharmacovigilance activities
    • Perform forecasting and quantification practices for efficient commodity allocation.
    • To provide stock inventory at the KWCWC pharmacy i.e. Cold Chain, Reports and Requisitions.
    • Design and implement effective and efficient stock control measures and protocols
    • Provide training to other Health Professionals about pharmacy related issues
    • Supervise Pharmacy Assistants working in the Pharmacy
    • Develop and Implement SOPs as well as ensure adherence to guidelines
    • Support pharmacy automation to improve efficiency
    • Compile monthly statistics and reports
    • Overall Pharmacy staff management and support
    • Ensure monthly and weekly task allocation of Pharmacy staff
    • Continuous quality improvement tasks.
    • Any other duties assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Diploma or degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
    • Registered with Pharmacy & Poisons Board with a current professional practice license
    • A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in an outpatient pharmacy setting
    • Previous use and exposure to hospital information management systems will be an added advantage
    • Ability to read and interpret prescriptions appropriately and offer the required guidance as necessary
    • Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Values of the organization
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients.
    • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and policies in Kenya, as well as an awareness of emerging trends and issues in the healthcare industry.
    • The pharmacy technologist must be fluent in English and Swahili, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices.
    • Demonstrated team, quality and customer service focus
    • Demonstrated flexibility and initiative Attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters
    • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
