Job Purpose

The job entails identification, feasibility studies, detailed design and construction of water infrastructure to increase area from diverse water sources that include rivers, lakes, ground water as well as the development and expansion of water harvesting and storage infrastructure. The job holder will answerable to a senior officer.

Job Specifications

Duties and responsibilities entail:

• Designing water and sanitation projects;
• Carrying out research on water and sanitation technologies iii. Administration and supervision of projects;
• Advising on issuance of certificate of project completion;
• Estimating costs for water and sanitation projects;
• Participating in preparation of tender documents;
• Participating in evaluation of tenders;
• Participating in the implementation of the performance management system in the section;
• Assisting in compiling projects technical reports on design, implementation, and maintenance;
• Implementing policies and programs on water and Sanitation project designs;
• Preparing technical reports, designs and estimates drawings;
• Developing resource mobilization and business proposal; and
• Carrying out structural integrity surveys and analysis of test results.

Person Specification​​​​​​​

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:

• Cumulative service period of nine (9) years relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been in the grade of Senior Engineer or in comparable position;
• Bachelor Degree in any of the following disciplines: Civil Engineering Water Engineering, Structural Engineering, or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
• Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (MIEK);
• Valid Practicing License from the Engineers Board of Kenya
• Registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya; and
• Proficiency in computer applications.
