Product Engineer at Access Afya

About the Role

The product engineer will work directly with the product manager, internal teams and external partners to help us work out problems in healthcare accessibility and build solutions on top of our build a futuristic health tech platform currently focused on delivering quality care to under-served urban communities. The product engineering will be working very closely with our platform and other product engineers to guide them as they work on various solutions. An ideal candidate will be proficient in both JavaScript and TypeScript, have experience working with React JS and using GraphQL on the client side as well as proficiency with common tooling used in client-side development.

Roles and responsibilities

• The engineer should be able to work full-stack but with a strong focus on the back end.
• The engineer should be able to offer support and guidance to the junior engineers on the team.
• The engineer will be responsible for shipping new features that meet business needs.
• The engineer will be required to improve on the existing code base to ensure that platform stability is achieved.
• The engineer will collaborate with other engineers on the team to improve on the existing codebase and existing features.
• The engineer will be required to perform code reviews with other team members to ensure that optimal code is being shipped.
• Write testable code.
• The engineer will be required to participate in a 7-day on-call rotation to fix bugs and address ad-hoc requests.
• Monitor deployed products for errors and act appropriately to make sure all deployed features are not crashing in production.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines

Job specification / Requirement

• Bachelor's degree in related field of study (Computer Science, Math, Statistics), OR Certification from an approved technical field of study
• 5 years of software development experience
• Experience writing GraphQL and restful APIs
• Experience building PWAs in React
• Experience using application state management tools. (redux preferred) or alternative approaches.
• Experience writing Javascript and Typescript
• Experience building applications in React using custom tooling for SPAs or related SSR frameworks.
