    Program Officer Accountability and Justice

    JOB PURPOSE

    The Program Officer – Accountability and Justice is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the Accountability and Justice Program Manager and is responsible for managing a portfolio of grants, development of strategies for the portfolio and maintaining relationships with grantees and key contacts. The role provides the program with technical and administrative services relating to projects/grants and program administration and implementation as well as a variety of support in the area of information collection.

    The Program Officer – Accountability and Justice represents the foundation in the public and makes decisions on the allocation of funds according to the strategy within their portfolios.

    As a Program Officer – Accountability and Justice at Open Society-Africa, you will be responsible for:

    • Overseeing Open Society-Africa’s Corporate Accountability program portfolio including identification of novel partners and initiatives in selected priority countries.
    • Monitoring national, regional and international legal and policy developments on business and human rights.
    • Contributing to shaping Open Society-Africa’s Corporate Accountability strategy through research, advocacy, strategic litigation and other tools.
    • Building partnerships with key national, regional and international partners, including other philanthropies working in the area of business and human rights.

    EDUCATION

    Postgraduate degree.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Substantial work experience, including proficiency in field of expertise.
    • Minimum number years of relevant working experience—7 years.
