    Program Officer - Early Childhood Development (ECD) Program

    Responsibilities:

    • Work with Siaya County, department of health to lead and further institutionalize integration of NCfECD into maternal, newborn and child health services; support operationalization of cost-effective capacity building strategies including OJTs, and CMEs.
    • In collaboration with the department of health, develop a plan and execute targeted mentorship to implementation sites, ensuring that HCPs are adequately supported to deliver quality Nurturing Care for Early Childhood Development (NCfECD) services.
    • Working within established Community Health Strategy structures, work with Community Health Assistants (CHAs) to train and mentor Community Health Promoters to integrate NCfECD into regular household visits targeting caregivers and their children.
    • Support delivery of quality play box services; ensure use of age-appropriate play items in health facility waiting areas using a play box guide.
    • Ensure implementation sites have in place all required tools for service delivery.
    • Document project activities by ensuring timely data collection, transmission, and management and by keeping updated project reports.
    • Support any dedicated research activities and participate in dissemination forums.
    • Provide other technical inputs to the project as needed.

    Required skills and experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Community development, Nursing, Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics or related field
    • At least five years’ experience in ECD program implementation within Primary Health Care.
    • At least five years’ experience working with ministry of health across levels to support capacity building of front-line workers through training, mentorship, and reporting.
