    Project Coordinator - Social Norms Diagnosis Project

    JOB SUMMARY

    • The Project Coordinator will play a pivotal role in implementing the project focused on addressing negative gender norms that pose barriers to achieving positive development outcomes for women and girls. This role is critical to achieving equity in health and livelihood outcomes, particularly in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE).

    ROLES AND RESPOSIBILITIES
    Study Leadership and Coordination (40%)

    • Provide oversight to the project, which includes and not limited to, supporting the project delivery structures including review of preliminary reports, coordinating the data collection.
    • Organize in consultation with the project team and Project manager inception and planning forums, to facilitate coordination, collaboration, and effective delivery of all components of the project.
    • Ensure communication flow is known by all stakeholders and that timely communication for project concerns are shared with project governance structures, supervisor and other levels of management while ensuring that all official processes for external communication are adhered to.
    • Establish good working relationship and co-ordination with Project stakeholders to facilitate smooth project implementation, nurture support for key program components.
    • Work closely with the research and data collection teams to gather insights and feedback.
    • Coordinate with other project team members to ensure seamless execution of interventions.
    • Oversee and facilitate the networking, liaising and collaboration activities necessary to provide technical support to implementing partners in SRHR health system strengthening, service delivery, advocacy and organizational capacity building and partnership collaboration.

    Monitoring and support supervision (30%)

    • Review M&E related reports and put in place a system for validation of information provided.
    • Organize and oversee field visits and monitoring plans for ongoing monitoring and review of ongoing project activities; with a view to ascertain that activities are ongoing and that results and outputs shared with CARE are genuine and within approved priorities funded, which will be used to make informed decisions.
    • Engage with local communities, particularly in Nairobi’s slums, to understand and address the challenges related to GBV and poor SRHR outcomes.
    • Collaborate with community leaders, government officials, and other stakeholders to ensure project buy in

    Networking and Collaboration-10%

    • Represent CARE in relevant community development planning meetings.
    • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with other CARE colleagues and project staff,
    • Partner agencies, County government, CBOs, collaborators, other stakeholders and enhance CARE image.
    • Identify and document challenges during the study that would have negative impact and or undermine the performance of the project, identify solutions, and implement actions on timely basis to avert negative performance in consultation with Project Manager and other program team members.
    • Coordinate and support the training of enumerators and other study participants as necessary.
    • Organize forums and create awareness and understanding of the project activities amongst service providers, community own resource persons, state and non-state agencies in the county, and communities served through regular meetings.

    Resource Mobilization -15%

    • Support preparation of concept notes and proposals working closely with the Program Manager.
    • Scope out existing opportunities in areas of expertise to allow program growth and sustainability.
    • Support the exploration of external partnerships ensuring that opportunities are identified at local and national levels.
    • Documentation of program successes and dissemination of lessons, best/promising practices within and externally; Document project case studies and promising practices and share these in project reports.

    Other Responsibilities as assigned (5%)

    • Perform any other official duties as may be deemed relevant and necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field; Social Sciences, public health, Gender and development studies or other relevant discipline coupled with related professional training.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in results-based program management, and preferably using funding from bilateral donors such as USAID, BMGF, GAC, DFAT or the EU.
    • Experience and participation in baseline surveys and studies, GPA and Assessments.
    • Demonstrated programming experience related to a combination of SRHR, Gender Equality and Social inclusion. Experience in adolescent SRHR programming is and asset.
    • Demonstrable experience in initiating and managing effective partnerships with government, CSOs, private sector and other stakeholders.
    • Proven track record using results-based management to record and report on project impact.
    • Demonstrated ability to create an enabling environment in which groups can identify and work towards their own strategic goals.
    • Strong staff and project management skills
    • Demonstrated ability to foster transparent, accountable relationships with donors and partners.
    • Ability to foster and strengthen partnerships amongst different stakeholders and civil society actors.
    • Demonstrated ability to come to “win-win” resolutions when faced with program quality and operations issues.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and to negotiate positive outcomes from competing interests.
    • Capacity to troubleshoot and successfully resolve issues, staff management and competing partnership agendas.
    • Excellent inter-personal, facilitation skills and communication skills
    • Ability to build and maintain trust amongst teams and amongst diverse partners.
    • Person of professional integrity
    • The ability to work independently, think innovatively and strategically and work effectively within a team.
    • Demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
