    Project Officer, Capacity Building Virtual Platform

    The Virtual Capacity-Building Platform Technical Assistance project consists of several components that will commence the Sustainability activities for Poverty-Environment Action. These components include:
    Development of the virtual capacity-building platform as part of the Poverty-Environment Action space on the Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) website, to advance poverty-environment-climate mainstreaming for the SDGs in a post-COVID environment, targeted at national policymakers (to be conducted in partnership with GGKP).

    • Updating the 2nd edition of the Poverty-environment mainstreaming Handbook and posting it in clickable format on the virtual capacity-building platform (updating of the Handbook is currently being done by Steve Bass and will result in the 3rd edition of the Handbook).
    • Developing and launching user-friendly and easily accessible training modules in collaboration with UNITAR on approaches to deliver poverty-environment-climate mainstreaming capacity development in a post-COVID environment in 2022 and beyond.
    • Organizing webinars (and/or workshops) on new substantive priorities/topics arising from PEA countries/projects and partners to strengthen South-South cooperation, knowledge exchange and learning among PEA projects/partners and to foster sustainability of PEA actions. Scheduled webinar topics include:
      • Global retreat
      • Launch of the Handbook “Mainstreaming Environment and Climate for Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development: The Interactive Handbook to Strengthen Planning and Budgeting Processes”
      • Launch of the training package and virtual platform
      • Gender mainstreaming
      • EU Webinar
      • Lessons learned from the Poverty-Environment Action project

    Responsibilities

    Under the direct supervision of PEA Knowledge Management & Reporting Officer, and under the overall supervision of PEA’s UNEP Co-Manager, the Individual Contractor will perform the following functions:

    • Coordinate with GGKP on building of the platform. Discuss the components of the platform and provide input on what the virtual platform should look like. Coordinate with technical leads on collating all the existing tools at global level, including the updated Handbook, as well as regional and country levels, to be uploaded on the GGKP platform.
    • Coordinate with Cookie labs on transferring the updated Handbook onto the GGKP platform.
    • Coordinate the translation of the 3rd edition of the Poverty-Environment mainstreaming Handbook into Arabic, French and Portuguese, as requested.
    • Provide logistics support into the organization of the various webinars.
    • Provide support to the Poverty-Environment Action Helpdesk, though tracking requests and responses to inquiries from member States and partner organizations and sharing the requests with the Technical Leads.
    • Coordinate inputs to the Poverty-Environment Action community of practice, working in close cooperation with GGKP.
    • Provide support to the preparation of the Poverty-Environment Action Final Report.

    Qualifications/special skills

    Academic Qualifications:

    • A Master’s degree with specialization in agriculture, development, environment, natural resources, international relations or related topic is required. A first level degree with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in project management is required.
    • At least 3 years' experience working for international organizations is required.
    • Substantive experience with coordinating webinars is required.
    • Substantive experience of coordinating translations of publications is also a requirement.
    • Experience with virtual information platforms/centres of excellence is an asset.

    Skills:

    • Excellent Word and PowerPoint skills required.
    • Excellent communication skills in English with a proven ability to work well with UN, Government, Donor and non-governmental stakeholders is required.
