    Research Officer II – Economist

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the collection of household and agricultural/livestock data (e.g., program survey tools, recruit and assist in the training of data collection staff, organize survey logistics, monitor quality of incoming data in real-time, manage financial and physical resources for implementation of multiple activities).
    • Prepare data for analysis
    • Conduct advanced analysis of data in Stata and/or R using econometric methods
    • Develop new ideas, techniques, methodologies, approaches, practices and procedures in digital innovation and data analysis.
    • Conduct literature reviews and syntheses
    • Assist in preparing large datasets for public access
    • Leads the writing of project reports and outputs of small-scale projects (e.g., datasets). Interact with collaborators and project partners
    • Contribute to proposal development.
    • Assist with supervision of staff, students, temporary staff, and consultants.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements

    • Master’s degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics or Development Economics or Applied Statistics.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in academia, a development-oriented research organization or comparable institution in the area of impact evaluation
    • Knowledge of microeconomic theory and quantitative econometric methods
    • Excellent knowledge of STATA
    • Demonstrated experience in coordinating data field surveys
    • Demonstrated ability to perform in-depth statistical analysis and report the results.
    • Willingness and openness to learn
    • Demonstrated fluency in written and spoken English
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented multi-cultural environment
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task as needed, consistently meet deadlines, and manage time well
    • Demonstrated professional level of attention to detail and accuracy of work
    • Ability to work independently and with initiative
    • A good understanding of impacts of climate change and variability on agricultural and livestock systems
