    Research Technician

    Overview

    • To support cereal breeding activities.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Plant and manage trials, field husbandry & field sanitation and irrigation.
    • Collect data, enter, and analyze for the ESA region and maintenance of database. 
    • Write progressive report.
    • Recruit and supervise casuals at the field station.
    • Procure and manage supplies and consumables for trials and office.
    • Organize and plant on farm trials and demonstration under various projects.
    • Supervise, monitor, collect data and organize evaluation and field days for on farm trials.
    • Capacity building of farmers, students, and other collaborators.
    • Carry out administrative duties at the station. 

    Education, knowledge and experience

    • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Agronomy or Horticulture At least 2 years of experience in a research institution and an understanding of plant breeding.
    • Experience in a research environment, specifically in field layout, data analysis, and field crops management.
    • Knowledge in data analytical packages like Genstat.
