    Resident Enumerator

    About the Job
    The Resident Enumerator will support the successful implementation of research activities in Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties by collecting accurate, reliable, and high-quality data from assigned villages/study participants for a period of 4-6 weeks. Working under the supervision of the county supervisor, the Enumerator will adhere to approved study protocols, ethical and safeguarding standards, and data quality assurance procedures. The role involves close collaboration with CREAW Kenya field staff, local stakeholders, and community representatives to facilitate respondent tracing, data collection, and timely achievement of project targets while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Identify, trace, and interview eligible respondents for the IM midline survey within the assigned project areas.
    • Recruit and screen eligible participants from selected households and communities in line with the approved sampling methodology and survey protocols.
    • Obtain informed consent from all participants before conducting interviews, ensuring that respondents fully understand the purpose of the survey and their rights.
    • Administer questionnaires accurately, objectively, and professionally using approved data collection tools and methodologies, while adhering to all validation and quality control requirements.
    • Review all completed forms before leaving the respondent to confirm accuracy, completeness, and internal consistency of responses, allowing for immediate clarification of any missing, unclear, or inconsistent information prior to submission.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of respondent information and comply with all ethical, safeguarding, and data protection standards throughout the data collection process.
    • Promptly report field progress, challenges, incidents, and any irregularities encountered during data collection to the Field Supervisor or group team lead.
    • Ensure the proper use, handling, and safekeeping of all project equipment, devices, and materials assigned for data collection activities.
    • Participate actively in all training sessions, team meetings, and daily briefing and debriefing and reporting sessions to support effective implementation and continuous improvement of field operations.
    • Represent the organization professionally and maintain respectful and positive relationships with community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders throughout the assignment.
    • Work closely with CREAW Kenya field staff to support respondent tracing and mobilization efforts, enabling efficient field implementation, minimizing non-response and logistical delays, and ensuring that all data collection milestones are achieved within the agreed timeframe.
    • Upload and submit collected data on a daily basis, following review and guidance from field supervisors or group team lead.
    • Work diligently to achieve assigned daily productivity targets and promptly communicate any challenges that may affect performance or the timely completion of data collection activities.
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or project management team in support of study objectives

    • Ability to work independently, walk extensively within assigned locations, and meet daily data collection targets while maintaining high standards of data quality.
    •   Ability to work under minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
    • Commitment to ethical research practices and safeguarding principles.
    • Flexibility to work irregular hours and travel to various locations as required
    •   Knowledge of community engagement strategies and cultural sensitivity.
    • Experience working with NGOs, research institutions, government programs(i.e., KDHS or KNBS surveys), or donor-funded projects is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with mobile data collection platforms (e.g., REDCap, KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO) is an added advantage.
