    SEAF Legal & Compliance Director

    Minimum Requirements:

    • LLB or LLM in Law
    • Minimum 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in international legal departments
    • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to evolve in an international and challenging environment;
    • Ability to handle several tasks with pragmatism and reactivity.
    • Strong team spirit and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
    • Fluent in English and know how to negotiate and draft contracts in both languages

    Responsibilities

    Legal Function

    • Handle all legal affairs and manage legal risks of the Region with an emphasis on the review of offers and contracts
    • Handle corporate matters for all Bureau Veritas legal entities within the Area
    • Provide legal support for M&A and Joint-Ventures within the Area
    • Handle litigation matters with the support of external lawyers when required and management of insurances matters in coordination with the Group Risk and Insurance Department
    • Assist with debt collection matters
    • Provide expert legal guidance to operations and senior management

    Compliance Function

    • Coordinate with group compliance teams to align compliance objectives, processes, and goals, ensuring consistent practices across the organization
    • Support the Director of Investigations for all investigations into allegations of fraud, bribery, conflict of interest, policy violations, and other forms of misconduct that would breach BV Code of Ethics
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities
    • Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance-related matters, promoting a culture of integrity, compliance, and transparency throughout the organization
    • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations (e.g.: privacy regulations and trade compliance (international sanctions & export control))

    Team Management

    • Recruit, develop, and retain top legal talent
    • Conduct performance evaluations and professional development
    • Create a collaborative and high-performance legal environment
    • Mentor junior legal professionals
    • Control legal department budget and resource allocation
