    Security Lead

    The Security Lead is responsible for securing the Taveta Farms premises i.e., the Taveta Commercial depot, the generator area, the pump location for the pivots, the stores and personnel by patrolling the property, monitoring surveillance infrastructure, inspecting the building’s access points alongside permitting entry.

    The role holder is also responsible for the security of the goods in transit from Taveta farms to the Central Business Park. The role holder is also responsible for supervising staff and operations in the Control Room and enforcing compliance to the security policies. The role holder is also responsible for developing procedures to attain compliance to the policies & required standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Security Management

    • Act as first responder to all security matters at the Taveta farms, Packhouse and Taveta depot and deal with day-to-day matters such as accidents and incidents
    • Patrol the building perimeter, premises, and surroundings to monitor and prevent intrusion, damage, hazards, and breaches of security, check for fires, vandalisms, or suspicious and unusual activities
    • Enforce the organization’s security regulations regarding security
    • Protect the premises, staff, and persons within the premises from theft, damage, trespassing or accidents. Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment
    • Monitor and prevent movement of prohibited items into and out of property
    • Work with qualified third parties and relevant authorities to oversee coordination and conclusion of security investigations with confidentiality to avoid disruption of business operations.
    • Report on investigations findings to the relevant stakeholders after review and approval by the Security Manager
    • Prepare written reports of daily activities, observations, and incidents
    • Submit recommendations for improvements and additions to the security management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management

    Systems and Control Room Management

    • Manage security systems and controls such as fleet tracking security/GPS systems, CCTV cameras to all the business’ locations
    • Utilize GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles in case of theft, investigate irregularities such as delays, where trucks are mobile, and recommend on what action to be taken
    • Liaise with the third-party service partner on the planning of daily and shift activities and ensuring quality support service is achieved
    • Direct all facets relating to the CCTV and alert systems (operations, management, response, and maintenance)
    • Verify that all CCTV and alert systems are working and do daily checks
    • Check property through electronic monitoring systems
    • Monitor the video surveillance system and review footage
    • Inspect, test, and maintain the security systems, as well as schedule for maintenance as required
    • Handle escalated situations from the Control Room Operators and the Outsourced security teams
    • Liaise with the third-party service partner on the planning of daily and shift activities and ensuring quality support service is achieved

    Security Response

    • Receive and respond to incidents, classify each incident, and determine the severity of the incident and generate an incident report and submit it to the Security Manager
    • Respond to alarms and calls of security concerns
    • Alert authorities if needed for emergencies or security breaches and address any infractions of building rules and/or forwarding them to the Security Manager

    • Engage, coach, manage and motive the outsourced security teams
    • Deliver the performance objectives set for self and adhere to the Twiga culture and way of working
    • Proactively manage own learning and development.
    • Adhere to people management polices

    Compliance

    • Comply with all organization policies, procedures, and statutory guidelines. Minimize and mitigate risks to the organization and enforce zero-tolerance to non-compliance.
    • Close gaps/lapses identified as an outcome of audits; risk and/or any other compliance review; investigations; or other assessment mechanisms and take corrective/preventive actions within the agreed timelines

    Minimum Qualifications And Requirements

    • A Degree in Criminology/Security Studies/Disaster Management or a related field
    • Prior experience of working as a Security Officer in the police or security fields. Service in any military or para-military role is an added advantage.
    • Tech-savvy with experience in managing surveillance systems, supervising control rooms and teams and incident reporting.
    • A proven track record in interrogation of systems to provide information.
    • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
    • Attention to detail and alert to any changes that may indicate an increased security risk or unusual situation.
    • Trained in First Aid/BLS and Self-defence
    • Be able to work a variable shift schedule including night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
