Senior Accountant at The Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency

Job Purpose

The accountants are responsible for planning, organising, controlling, coordinating and implementing financial and accounting functions in the Agency. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

Job Specifications​​​​​​​

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:

• Examining payment vouchers and post in vote book/budget control records;
• Processing imprests, advances and other disbursements and remit statutory deductions;
• Examining cash and Bank Reconciliation statements;
• Preparation of cash flow projections and investment proposals;
• Preparing financial reports and statements;
• Providing safe custody of accounting records, documents and assets;
• Maintaining imprest ledger and follow up on surrender of imprests;
• Safe custody of the Agency’s records and assets under his/her jurisdiction

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• Cumulative service period of six (6) years’ work experience three (3) years of which should have been in the grade of Accountant I or in a comparable position;
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: - Commerce (Accounting/Finance option), Finance, Economics, Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option), Business Management (Accounting/Finance option), or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
• Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA K) Examination or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
• Registered with relevant professional body such as Institute of Public Accountants (ICPAK) Kenya, Association of Chartered certified accountants (ACCA) or its equivalent;
• Proficiency in Computer applications.
