Job Description for Senior Assistant Systems Librarian

• Should be conversant with Library Management Systems (KOHA) and Digital Repository (DSpace);
• Familiar with standards appropriate to library applications such as MARC21 (Machine-readable cataloging), HTML, SQL, MySQL, Z39.50, UNIX language, and LINUX operating system;
• Familiarity with formulation and implementation of policies, procedures, manuals, particularly in the area of systems development;
• Maintain digital repository and resources;
• Maintain system’s backups, security, and contingency plans to ensure continuity;
• Supervise the provision of technical support and routine/ad-hock maintenance of computer hardware and software systems at the library;
• Maintain library social media i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and library website;
• Good organizational, interpersonal, oral (make effective oral presentations), and written communication skills;
• In addition, provide electronic information and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer.

Job Requirements for Appointment

• Bachelors Degree in the relevant field from a recognized institution;
• At least seven (7) years relevant work experience.
• Good knowledge of Information Communication Technology.
• Membership registration to a relevant professional body.
• Master’s Degree is an added advantage
