Senior Developer Team Lead at Medbook Kenya Limited

The Senior Developer Team Lead will be a pivotal role in bridging technical capabilities with business requirements. This position will be responsible for leading the development team, designing, and implementing technical solutions for the company's core products, with immediate focus on upcoming implementations in East Africa and new product rollouts. The ideal candidate will combine strong development leadership with architectural thinking and business analysis skills to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives and deliver maximum value to clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & System Design

• Design and document system architecture for new and existing products, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
• Conduct technical audits of current systems to identify improvements and optimization opportunities.
• Develop and maintain technical standards and best practices.
• Create architecture roadmaps that align with business strategy and product vision.
• Implement security protocols and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Business Analysis

• Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Work with stakeholders to capture, analyze, and document product requirements.
• Identify and track system KPIs to measure performance and effectiveness.
• Develop dashboards to provide visibility into system performance.
• Identify and document processes for business improvement.

Project Implementation

• Lead technical implementation for healthcare software projects.
• Drive product development and market rollout initiatives.
• Implement appropriate change control protocols and manage technical change requests.
• Ensure proper segregation of bugs and enhancement requests.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight during project implementation.

Product Development

• Develop product roadmaps in collaboration with business stakeholders.
• Identify critical roadmap features and prepare design specifications for mobile apps, multi-tenancy, system consolidation, and modularization.
• Evaluate new technologies for potential adoption.
• Design and implement API strategies for internal and external integrations.
• Establish Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.

Analytics & Data Management

• Identify, document, and label key data sources across systems.
• Design and implement data models for analytics and reporting.
• Develop fraud detection mechanisms using analytics.
• Ensure data integrity and security across all platforms.

Technical Leadership

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to development team members.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to build team capabilities.
• Lead technical reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of technical and business goals.
• Identify and document technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in software development and architecture
• Proven experience with modern web and mobile development technology stacks
• Demonstrable experience in system architecture design and implementation
• Prior experience leading technical aspects of software implementation projects
• Experience in the healthcare or insurance sectors is highly desirable.
