Senior ICT Officer II- Kenya-AIST Grade 7 at Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST)

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -

• Providing guidance and procedures for operations and maintenance of computing systems (hardware, software and networks) and data communication systems;
• Preparing and monitoring of maintenance procedures;
• Coding/writing and testing computer programs;
• Implementation of information systems;
• Performing technical and systems documentation;
• Planning, designing and implementing the Institute corporate databases;
• Performing database backups, monitoring, tuning and data recovery procedures;
• Ensuring database security and assisting Computer Programmers with database issues;
• Controlling and monitoring database usage; and
• Development and maintenance of the Institute website.

For appointment to this grade an officer must have: -

• Served for a cumulative period of eight (8) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been in the grade of Information Communication Technology Officer I or in a comparable position;
• Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
• A Master’s degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage;
• Strong knowledge of ERP software, including relevant certification (Eg. Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Business Central Functional Consultant Associate);
• Proficiency in SQL, database management and programming languages relevant to ERP Customization;
• Knowledge of data protection laws is an added advantage.
