    Senior Journalist, BBC News Content

    Role Responsibility

    Reporting to the News Editor, you will be responsible for producing content for all output with News Content correspondents and reporters in the region.  On occasion you will work in collaboration with World Service correspondents and reporters in Africa.  Together with the TV, Social Media and Multimedia desks, you will act as a point of editorial reference for journalists and correspondents, providing editorial leadership as required.  You will exercise your editorial judgement, creativity and flair to make original and compelling multimedia content.  You will also offer ideas for daily output and future diary events, suggesting new angles on existing stories and putting forward stories not yet covered. 

    The Ideal Candidate

    The successful candidate will have a demonstrable background in a senior journalistic role with evidence of field production experience.  You will have first class knowledge of news that appeals to an African audience.  A broadcast-level of English, written and spoken, is essential.  You will have notable experience of working across multi-platforms including TV, digital and radio.  You will have a wide range of contacts in your network.  In addition, you must have evidence of producing high-impact stories.  Knowledge of creating TV news programmes to the highest editorial standards is important.  You will have an in-depth knowledge of news and stories related to the East Africa region, with a full understanding of its history, politics, social and cultural issues.  A thorough understanding of the latest developments in storytelling is key.
