Senior Presenter, BBC Africa "The Breakdown" at BBC World Service

The Breakdown is BBC Africa’s weekly programme offering a 360 degree view of the coronavirus pandemic.

We are looking for a Senior Presenter with English and Swahili language skills to join our team based in Nairobi.  This is an attachment / fixed term contract for 12 months.

Role Responsibility

Your role is to produce and present live content for The Breakdown.  You will broadcast in English, in a timely, authoritative and engaging manner, ensuring you meet the BBC’s editorial guidelines and rigorous journalistic standards.  You will present to a wide audience, making complex issues accessible and comprehensible.  Presenting or co-presenting in both the studio or on location and reporting in the field on important events is a key part of this role.  You will make the best use of new technologies to deliver journalism to our audiences.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable background in a senior journalistic role, with a track record of presenting on-air.  You will have a full command of English (written and spoken) with a broadcast-standard level of Swahili.  An authoritative microphone voice and the ability to conduct live and pre-recorded interviews is essential.  A track record of accuracy and impartiality and sound editorial judgement is important.
