Duties and Responsibilities
- The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for direction, management, performance and evaluation of all Contracts. An officer at this level will be responsible for:
- Formulation, implementation and control of policy on tendering and procurement procedures,
- Financial and contractual administration of all Building Construction and Maintenance Contracts;
- Advising the University on procurement, financial and contractual management of Building
- Construction and Maintenance Projects; and being the custodian of the register of Consulting Quantity Surveyors, Contractors, Sub-
- Contractors and Suppliers registered with the University.
Requirements for direct appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:-
- Have Master’s degree in Quantity Survey or Building Economics or its equivalent:
- Have valid registration by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya;
- Have registered with the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK):
- Have a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in an organization comparable in scope and status to the Quantities and Contracts Department of the Ministry in charge of infrastructural development in Kenya or a large firm of private Quantity Surveyors;
- Have a certificate in Leadership and Management course; and
- Have demonstrable professional experience, competence and high degree of administrative leadership capacity.
- Relevant PhD degree will be an added advantage.
Requirements for Serving Officers
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:-
- Have Master’s degree in Quantity Survey or Building Economics or its equivalent;
- Have served in the Grade of Quantity Surveyor I Grade 12 (XII) for at least three (3) years;
- Have registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya;
- Have registered with the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK);
- Have demonstrable experience and high degree of administrative leadership capacity as a_ Quantity Surveyor or similar level;
- Have a certificate in Leadership and Management course; and
- Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
