Shift Lab Supervisors - 2 Posts at SonySugar Limited

Duties and Responsibilities at This Level Will Entail:

• Receiving, processing, and analyzing samples;
• Designing and conducting laboratory tests according to standard procedures;
• Ensuring proper sampling of soil, leaf, cane, and fertilizer for analysis;
• Ensuring proper sampling of juice from sugarcane for analysis;
• Preparing sampled materials prior to analysis;
• Carrying out analysis using modern methods;
• Ensuring the provision of quality domestic and factory water supplies;
• Ensuring proper sampling of effluent materials for analysis to meet EMCA set standards;
• Handling and storing chemicals and other laboratory materials;
• Preparing laboratory reports and interpreting analyzed data;
• Ensuring that safety laboratory precautions are adhered to;
• Organizing calibration and standardization of lab equipment;
• Ensuring proper cane quality assessment at the weighbridge;
• Carrying out mill tests on cane varieties;
• Keeping inventory of laboratory equipment and data;
• Ensuring cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment;
• Ensuring environmental, health, and safety standards are maintained.

Job Specifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; OR
• Higher Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Three (3) years of relevant work experience;
• Professional qualification and membership where applicable;
• Valid practicing license where applicable;
• Proficiency in computer applications;
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
