    Social and Behavior Change Officer

    Task description
    Under the direct supervision of SBC Specialist supporting HIV unit and the Child protection section the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

    • Provide technical support on stakeholder coordination in the national campaign initiative to end teenage pregnancy, promote Adolescent wellbeing and Child protection (TAC). In liaison with the TAC secretariat guided by the technical lead on the President’s advisor on women rights, facilitate appropriate engagement of stakeholders to achieve specified outcomes. Support the secretariat coordination of steering committee, and technical committee/s and or working groups to support the coordination and implementation of the TAC campaign goal. Work with the technical advisor’s office to enhance stakeholder collaboration in support of the a ‘one-government’ approach. Support the Office of the President’s advisor on Women rights in mapping of the players and identifying/ categorizing the key contributions and interests of various players supporting the campaign initiative.
    • Participate in the development of Communication strategy on ending teenage pregnancy, promoting adolescent wellbeing and Child Protection (TAC) in Kenya, including offering technical support to the creative agency, to produce campaign concepts, monitoring and reporting of communication intervention results.
    • Provide logistics support for the TAC campaign. In consultation with and with the advice of the Technical Lead at the Office of the Adviser to the President on Women’s Rights, organize stake-holder strategic meetings, including budget preparations, and workshop logistic support. Support identification of critical meetings, support development of meetings/workshop agendas, identification of venues and related logistics support.
    • Support execution of the national social behavior change campaign to end teenage pregnancy, promote adolescent wellbeing and child protection (TAC); In consultation with the Technical Lead at the Office of the Adviser to the President on Women’s Rights, and the TAC campaign secretariat, support development and implementation of a campaign media plan. Support identification of the campaign locations/venues, audience segmentation, and provision of context specific Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials at national and select Counties. Facilitate TAC campaign roll out in the multimedia platforms, including digital/social media, TV and radio executions.
    • Provide technical support in community engagement on TAC for select counties in the regions. Work with the Office of the Adviser to the President on Women’s Rights, and the Council of Governors’ Office (COG) to identify, plan and roll out the counties and community activation of the TAC campaigns. Lead identification and support of children and adolescent participation and engagement, in the inclusion of their perspectives/voices in the campaign dialogue, messaging and articulation of child/youth friendly strategies and actions.
    • Provide technical support in the documentation of the campaign initiatives, critical moments of change, and in report writing. Support monitoring, evaluation and recording of the campaign key milestones.
    • Any other task assigned by the Manager Social Behavior Change or the Social Behavior Change Specialist.

    Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:

    • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day).
    • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country.
    • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities.
    • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
    • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers.
    • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

    • 27 - 80

    Nationality

    • Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.

    Requirements
    Required experience

    • 3 years of experience in Social and Behavior Change planning, development and review of communication messages and materials, community engagement and mobilization, trainings, and skills transfer.
    • Prior experience in addressing teenage pregnancy, promote adolescent wellbeing and child protection will be an asset.
