Staff Nurse at Nairobi West Hospital Ltd

The Staff Nurse is responsible in the provision of quality patient care by maintaining accurate records and in the maintenance of professional standards through continuing education and development.

Academic and professional qualifications

• KRNN, KRN/KRM, KRCHN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Must be a Kenya Registered Nurse with a valid practicing license from NCK.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in relevant field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to offer emotional support to parents, guardians, and family members.
• Working knowledge of NICU specialized equipment.
• The ability to work in a team.
• The ability to offer comfort to ill newborns
• Other added advantages
• BLS & ACLS certified.
• Good interpersonal skills& communications kills
• Good customer care skills.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Patient Care (the planning, assessment, implementation and evaluation phase of care is a continuous process from the point of receiving the patient, rendering emergency intervention as per ER Doctor, admission process or initiating discharge of the patient.
• To obtain and document a patient assessment which incorporates all available data/information.
• To utilize techniques of observation, interview, measurement and physical examination (if necessary)
• in making an assessment.
• To identify from assessment actual and potential problems in collaboration with patient and senior nursing personnel.
• To refer problems with less predictable outcomes to senior nursing personnel.
• To transfer the patient safe from ER to ward or ICU as per the status.
• To counsel & communicate with patient family effectively
