    STTA/ Monitoring and Verification Specialist Technical Assistant

    Overview:  IBTCI is seeking a Short-Term Technical Assistant (STTA) to support the SMLP activity in Nairobi/Kenya.

    Responsibilities

    Tasks could include, but not be limited to:

    Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities: 

    • Contribute to the development of the following deliverables by incorporating stakeholder feedback;
      (USAID/BHA, USAID Implementing Partners, Third Party Monitors, and SMLP team) and lessons learned;
      • SMLP OY4 Implementation Plan;
      • TPM Training Materials and Plan;
      • TPM Field Monitor Reference Manual/Handbook;
      • SMLP OY4 Monitoring Plan, including reporting templates and IP Site Visit Protocols (for UNICEF and
        WFP);
      • SMLP OY4 Monitoring Schedule.

      

    Serve in the above consultant capacity to support the IBTCI technical practices of Crisis, Conflict & Governance, Agriculture & Food Security & Economic, Education & Growth and Global Health and/or Business Development divisions.

    • This position does not authorize/require the consultant to directly communicate with IBTCI clients.
    • This position does not authorize/require the consultant to have decision making authority on final work product.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Demonstrated experience in developing technical documents supporting data collection, management,
      analysis and reporting of quantitative and qualitative data (sampling, questionnaires, training materials,
      etc.);
    • Previous experience working on Monitoring and Verification activities in a humanitarian context;
    • Proven experience in writing technical reports required;
    • Previous experience implementing a USAID-funded program is desirable.

    Minimum required experience:

    • At least ten (10) years of relevant experience.
    • Previous experience providing technical support to third-party monitoring or project monitoring and/or
      evaluations.
    • Ability and willingness to be mobile and agile at a moment’s notice in case of an emergency required.
    • Ability and willingness to work for extended periods in insecure and diverse environments.
    • Ability and willingness to safely enter and exit a larger, armored SUV vehicle that is several feet off the ground without assistance, while wearing body armor and/or a heavy flak jacket.
    • In case of an emergency situation, must be able and willing to “duck and seek cover”, which may require the individual to exit the vehicle, unaided, and hurriedly seek shelter elsewhere, as needed, in the event of a roadside emergency.

    Period of Performance: September 6 to October 5, 2021
    Level of Efforts: Maximum of 30 working days

    Education: Master’s degree Statistics, Research, International Affairs, Social Science, or related field required.
    PHD’s degree preferred.
    Working Environment: Work is typically performed in hybrid office and remote environment. In person work in
    Nairobi required.

    Travel:  International travel may be required and may include travel to fragile or conflict prone zones.
