    Study Clinical Officer

    ADVERT REF, AD/1/2/25 1 POST
    The position

    • The position is located in the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics, Faculty of Health Sciences under the Sungura Project Study.

    Location

    • The position will be based at the Kenyatta National Hospital reporting to the Study Coordinator

    Job Purpose

    • The Study Clinical Officer will be responsible for recruitment, follow-up, retention and monitoring of study participants in accordance with the ICH GCP standards, local ethical and regulatory approval requirements, and the study protocols and SOPs for the Sungura and IMPALA studies.

    Job Description

    • Screen and enrolment of eligible participants
    • Obtain consent from participants
    • Provide clinical care of study participants
    • Support treatment adherence
    • Collection and entry of study information in approved clinical report forms
    • Respond to data queries
    • Complete the required MoH tools and registers for HIV care
    • Safe and confidential custody of study source and other study documents
    • Collect and ship study specimen
    • Prescribe study and other medication
    • Elicit, report and manage serious adverse events
    • Ensure retention of study participants in care
    • Any other duties assigned by supervisor

    Job Specifications

    • A Diploma in Clinical Medicine and registered to practice with the Clinical Officers Council
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with direct clinical care of PLHIV, including prescribing ARVs
    • Experience in clinical research, participation in clinical trials will be an added advantage
    • Must have a current Certificate of Good Clinical Practice
    • Must have a current certificate in Human Subject Protection
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Keen attention to detail
    • Evidence of possession of intermediate IT skills
    • Certification in the National Advanced HIV Clinical Course is an added advantage
