    Supply Chain Officer- Timber Section

    WHAT YOU’LL DO 

    Moko is looking for an individual who will manage the wood and wood related procurement process for East Africa sourced raw materials and traded goods. The Supply Chain Officer will work closely with our large pool of suppliers across the Africa region and the various internal departments to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing while maintaining high quality material at all times. 

    The ideal individual will support the organization-wide efforts in strategic sourcing by expanding our supplier database, negotiating best terms with suppliers and relationship building with both our external and internal stakeholders.

    The supply chain officer will also gets the opportunity to be a key contributor to the company’s mission of helping our customers affords a better quality of life in their homes as we Mokofy the world.

    THE ROLE IN BRIEF

    Sourcing & Purchasing

    • Maintain close communication with sawmill management to determine log volume requirements.
    • Establish a plan that insures log deliveries match mill consumption and size requirements while maintaining maximum cost efficiency.
    • Monitor and manage the log quality improvement program to ensure all supply sources maintain established quality standards and ensure prompt resolution of any sub-par quality issues.
    • Assess market for residuals with goal of maximizing returns to the mill.
    • Develop and maintain a supply force which will provide the required supply of logs during all seasons of the year and varying business cycles.
    • Monitor and supervise the forester’s daily and weekly activities.
    • Provide appropriate training and development for foresters.
    • Prepare accurate and timely reports for month-end information and monthly and quarterly forecasts
    • Support on research and sourcing for new suppliers related to wood work needs
    • Vet and onboard new suppliers.
    • Initiate and manage the purchasing process of all East Africa and Internationally  sourced products.
    • Reconcile all quality, payment, and order quantity variances for purchases within your scope and within agreed timeline.
    • Ensure all procurement activities are carried out in line with set pre-order, on order and post order processes.

    Documentation

    • Maintain up-to-date sourcing lists.
    • Maintain up-to-date approved supplier lists.
    • Create and maintain a filing system of all procurement documents.
    • Ensure all agreements, contracts, and internal documents are properly prepared, signed, distributed, and filed.
    • Maintain up-to-date reporting dashboards across your area of responsibility.

    ARE YOU OUR DREAM CANDIDATE?

    • You have at least 2 years progressive experience working with suppliers in a fast-growing company 
    • You have at least one year experience working in a role that involved procurement of timber and timber related products
    • You have a knack for creating and executing on solutions to sourcing challenges 
    • You enjoy working with people and leading initiatives when working on cross-functional projects 
    • You are eager to learn and take on development opportunities within a growing company 
    • You have strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver on assigned tasks with independence and little supervision 
    • A background in supply chain/project management is highly desirable
