• We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Maths Teacher to join one of Kenya’s leading schools – in fact, one of the top schools on the whole African continent.
• Kenyan education is recognised as generally excellent; about a dozen UK-style schools are at the forefront of Kenyan education, and Peponi is at the forefront of those schools. As an HMC member school, it enjoys an outstanding reputation and educates nearly 400 students aged 13 to 18 from a cosmopolitan mix of local and expatriate families.
• We have a very strong Maths Department with an excellent track record of high achievement in Cambridge A levels. Our students move on to degree courses at leading universities around the world, very often taking maths-based subjects. In parallel, an equally strong Science Faculty also achieves considerable A level success.
• We are now seeking an exceptional Maths Teacher who can, ideally, also teach Physics.
• You MUST have good experience of teaching Maths at A Level, and it will help if you've also taught Physics at A level. Your teaching timetable will be split 70:30 between both subjects.
• You must be an excellent classroom practitioner, forward thinking and imaginative, with fresh ideas, energy and a sense of fun too. What we really want is someone who can genuinely excite and inspire our pupils, someone who is passionate about Maths and the sciences in general, and someone who will go the extra mile to ignite those same passions in the students and help them go further than they ever dreamed they could. You must be able to support each individual’s growth and development, encouraging them to achieve and be the best they can be.
• You do not need to have had experience in the independent sector, but you do need a strongly can-do mindset.
• As a boarding and day school, we will also expect you to participate in and contribute to the life of the School as a whole. This will be enjoyable because of the happy, collegiate atmosphere, and we have a wide range of pastoral programmes and extra-curricular activities.
