Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor at RefuSHE

Qualifications & Competencies

• Minimum 200-hour yoga teacher training certification; 500-hour certification preferred
• Qualifications in trauma-informed yoga and/or psychology, therapy, counseling, or social work
• Experience leading yoga classes or programs for the specific purpose of healing or trauma recovery
• A strong understanding of trauma and how it impacts the body, and how yogic methods help the body to heal
• Ability to lead secular but holistic yoga classes, keeping in mind the different religious and cultural backgrounds of refugee students
• Availability for weekly classes over three months
• Timeliness and reliability
• High emotional maturity and passion for helping young women heal
• The ability to work in Kenya; fluency in English and Kiswahili. Language skills in French or local dialects spoken in Somalia, Congo, and South Sudan are a plus
