Duties

The incumbent performs the following functions:

The Travel and Transportation Supervisor is responsible for management and supervision of the travel section and all related functions for U.S. Mission Somalia, which has personnel in both Somalia and Kenya. Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) on travel policies and ensures excellent service to Mission personnel. Also directs and supervises shipping to/from Mogadishu and is expert on shipping and customs regulations and practices. Supervised by Deputy Management Officer. Periodic travel to Mogadishu may be required.

Requirements:

• EXPERIENCE:  A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in shipping, customs, travel, transportation, or logistics is required.
• JOB KNOWLEDGE:  The job holder must have a thorough working knowledge of Nairobi and Kenya hotel accommodations. The job holder must be able to use the normal range of office equipment. 

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics Management, Hospitality Management, International Relations, or Travel/Tourism is required.
