Vehicle Electronics Engineer at BasiGo

BasiGo is an early stage e-mobility start-up working to create the future of clean, electric, and digitally-powered public transport in sub-Saharan Africa. BasiGo provides matatu owners with a cost effective electric alternative to existing diesel buses. BasiGo seeks to work with experienced engineers who are excited to help us realize our vision of clean, electric public transit in Africa. BasiGo is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven individual to join us as a Vehicle Electronics Engineer. For this role, we are looking for engineers with a specific background in Digital electronics, CAN-bus systems. The Vehicle Electronics Engineer will be responsible for design, analysis, verification and validation of the vehicle electronic systems.

Our ideal candidate would have:

Experience & Qualifications

• MS Engineering degree or equivalent expert level in Electrical and Electronics, with a strong focus on digital electronics. Knowledge of battery systems would be a plus 
• 4+ years post-graduate experience working in embedded electronics development & testing environment.
• Demonstrated experience developing embedded microcontroller systems including firmware development.
• Direct experience in electronics diagnostics and debugging
• Ability to perform independent test & measurement activities 
• Experience of data analysis and calibration software used in automotives 
• Experience in taking electronic systems from concept to production.
• Demonstrated experience working with data systems and system modeling softwares tools including Python, SQL, Javascript, Simulink, and Excel.
• Ability to develop, configure, and utilize a variety of wired and wireless communication frameworks including CANBus, RS-485, WiFi, and Bluetooth. 
• You have demonstrated an ability to learn continuously, work autonomously, and make decisions

Responsibilities:

• Engineering of body electrics and electronics including support to packaging and mechanical design of electrical components
• Engineering vehicle telematics solutions for vehicle monitoring and data collection across operational vehicle fleets
• Engineering of passenger counters 
• Diagnostics of body electronics, vehicle control modules 
• Product development, testing, verification and documentation of electronics including onboard WiFi routers, infotainment systems, passenger experience, data acquisition hubs
• Analyze, simulate, perform verification testing and documentation of low and high voltage electronics 
• Apply theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical engineering to verify, validate and improve electronic product designs
• Communicate electronics project technical status
