    Web Developer

    The Opportunity

    • We are looking for a pragmatic Web Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production web applications.
    • You will translate designs and requirements into responsive, reliable, and maintainable web applications; integrate frontend applications with backend services; investigate and resolve real-world software issues; write and maintain automated tests; and collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
    • We value pragmatic engineering over theoretical perfection. We look for engineers who can understand a problem, investigate it systematically, make sensible technical trade-offs, build reliable solutions, and improve them iteratively.

    What You Will Do

    • Translate designs and product requirements into responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web applications.
    • Develop clean, maintainable frontend code using JavaScript/ES6+, TypeScript, HTML, CSS/SCSS, and relevant UI libraries or frameworks.
    • Read, understand, debug, and safely modify existing codebases.
    • Integrate frontend applications with backend services and RESTful APIs, and where applicable, GraphQL.
    • Develop and maintain automated tests to improve reliability and prevent regressions.
    • Use browser developer tools and other engineering tools to investigate errors, network requests, performance issues, and application failures.
    • Troubleshoot issues systematically, identify root causes, and implement reliable solutions.
    • Contribute to code reviews, CI/CD workflows, technical discussions, planning, and knowledge sharing.
    • Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver work within agreed timelines.
    • Take ownership of assigned work from understanding the requirement through implementation, testing, review, deployment, and follow-up.

    Required Skills & Competencies

    • Strong practical understanding of JavaScript/ES6+ and modern web development.
    • Strong understanding of semantic HTML, CSS, responsive layouts, and browser behavior.
    • Practical experience with SCSS or similar CSS preprocessing approaches.
    • Understanding of component-based frontend development, state management, forms, and web application architecture.
    • Experience consuming RESTful APIs and understanding how frontend applications communicate with backend services.
    • Working knowledge of automated testing and tools such as Jest, Cypress, Playwright, Jasmine, or equivalent.
    • Comfortable working with Git, including branches, commits, pull/merge requests, and code reviews.
    • Working knowledge of relational databases and basic SQL.
    • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate unfamiliar problems and identify root causes.
    • Familiarity with Linux and common software-development environments.
    • Basic understanding of web security concepts such as authentication, authorization, session management, and role-based access control.
    • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues.

    Good to Have

    • Experience with Angular, React, Vue, or another modern frontend framework.
    • Experience with TypeScript in production applications.
    • Experience with Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, or another UI framework/library.
    • Experience with GraphQL.
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
    • Familiarity with Docker and containerized development environments.
    • Familiarity with Node.js or backend development concepts.
    • Experience working in healthcare, financial services, enterprise software, or another domain with complex business requirements.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, a science-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Demonstrated practical experience in web development and programming through employment, internships, personal projects, open-source contributions, academic work, or other relevant experience.
    • Practical experience with JavaScript/ES6+, HTML, CSS, and SCSS.
    • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
    • Familiarity with Git and common software-development practices.
    • Familiarity with Linux and modern development environments.
