    Senior Registrar, Anesthesia

    REF: TNH/HRD/SRA/06/21

    Reporting to the Team Leader - Anaesthesia, the successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out clinical procedures and clinical management of in-patient and out-patient in order to offer curative services in line with established protocols and the hospital’s patient care objectives.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Carry out initial patient assessment, treatment, stabilization and referrals in line with the patients’ condition in order to achieve optimal patient care;
    2. Carry out non-emergency and emergency procedures on patients in consultation with the Specialist and/or Consultant;
    3. Carry out ward rounds for daily clinical progress and management of patients in consultation with the Specialist and/or Consultant;
    4. Mentor medical officers in clinical procedures to impart knowledge and improve patient care;
    5. Participate in continuous medical evaluations to sharpen medical knowledge and skills in area of specialization;
    6. Pursue mentorship opportunities in applicable specialty area under a specialist or consultant in compliance with the specialist recognition requirements;
    7. Participate in patient reviews in outpatient clinics as and when required;
    8. Participate in research activities in applicable specialty area in line with set objectives;
    9. Participate in the development and/or review of protocols in applicable specialty area to enhance clinical management;

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    1. Master of Medicine degree in Anaesthesia from a recognized institution.
    2. Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from a recognized institution.
    3. Must be registered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council and hold a valid practicing license.
    4. Minimum of 2 years’ pre-qualification experience as a medical officer.
    5. Basic Life Support Certificate.
    6. Advanced Trauma Life Support Certificate.

    Charge Nurse – Accident & Emergency

    REF: TNH/HRD/CH-A & E/06/21

    Reporting to the Assistant Director Nursing Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating all the operations of the department, ensuring total and effective nursing care of trauma and other patients requiring emergency care. Providing direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles, continuing responsibility for the management of the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department, personnel, fiscal and material resources.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Operational
      1. Championing continual quality improvement and patient safety through utilization of set policies, standards and procedures.
      2. Reviewing and develop strategies for early and effective response to the acutely ill patients presenting to A&E and in the wards.
      3. Coordinating medical training including Continuous Medical Education programs for the nursing team at A & E.
      4. Supervising the day to day operations of the department.
      5. Assisting in managing and maintaining the major disaster plan.
      6. Participating in developing various clinical protocols.
      7. Maintain and observe infection control measures for patients, customers and staff well-being.
      8. Upholding statutory regulations as required by nursing profession and the laws of Kenya.
      9. Participating in departmental and hospital activities i. e research, audits, CSR, open days.
      10. Attending Administrative meetings, Charge Nurse’s meetings, Procedure committees and other committees as may be required from time to time.
      11. Preparing department’s Budget.
    2. Tactical
      1. Providing high standard of nursing care to the patients in the A& E department.
      2. Responding to Emergency alerts.
      3. Utilize advanced technology trauma patient monitoring.
      4. Advocate for patients, treating them with dignity, according them privacy and respect.
      5. Communicate effectively with patients, patients’ families and all other care givers.

      7. Prepares the monthly Rotation for staff, vacation and their daily assignment of duties.
      8. Utilize the available resources effectively for quality service delivery, profitability and cost containment.
      9. Provide accurate documentation and proper record keeping of patients’ treatment.
      10. Maintain, monthly and quarterly statistics.
      11. Provide input to determine manpower for the department.
      12. Monitor the performance of the nurses & attendants in the department.
      13. Ensure regular maintenance is performed on all equipment and communicate with the Biomedical/Maintenance Engineering department.
      14. Take full responsibility for all equipment in the A&E inventory, order supplies for the Department.
      15. Protect all confidential information concerning the hospital, patients and to make disclosure only with patient and Chief Executive Officer’s permission.
      16. Investigate patients’ complaints and incidents promptly in accordance with the Hospital procedures, and reporting within the same shift.
      17. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    1. KRN, KRCHN, BSc. Nursing
    2. Higher diploma Emergency Nursing
    3. Minimum of 7 years post clinical nursing.

    Senior Radiotherapist

    REF: TNH/HRD/SR/06/21

    Reporting to the Team Leader - Oncology, the successful candidate will be responsible for simulate and carry out dosimetry for the hospital’s oncology patients to ensure quality radiotherapy treatment in line with established protocols and the Hospital’s patient care objectives.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Educate patients on the simulation process and obtain their consent for treatment and allergy declarations in order to ensure utmost corporation and compliance to established guidelines;
    • Conduct CT scan simulation and tattoo the patients’ area of interest for purposes of treatment planning;
    • Import CT/MRI images to the Treatment Planning Systems (TPS) and proceed in order to plan treatment for patients;
    • Plan patients’ treatment including contouring Organs at Risk (OAR) in order to optimise the dose distribution;
    • Follow up with the Oncologist to ensure that cross tumour volume (CTV) is done;
    • Create the treatment plans including the fields of projection, optimise dose limits to organs at risk (OAR) and planning tumour volume (PTV) in line with international protocols;
    • Present and discuss the treatment plans with the Chief Oncologist in order to receive approval;
    • Submit the approved treatment plans to the Medical Physicist team for quality assurance and address any arising issues accordingly;
    • Liaise with the Medical Records Officer to schedule patients for treatment sessions;
    • Provide guidance to junior radiotherapists on execution of work to ensure compliance to set standards;
    • Provide formal and on-the-job training as clinical resources to doctors, nurses and other radiotherapists on current practices; and
    • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Higher Diploma or Degree in Radiotherapy or Radiation Technology from a recognized institution.
    • Must be a registered member with the relevant registration body and hold a valid practicing license.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ radiotherapy experience with 2 years at supervisory level.

    Quality & Assurance Officer

    Reporting to the Quality and Assurance, Senior Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and updating the Hospital’s Quality, Food Safety, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety (QESH) Programmes. The job holder is further responsible for planning and executing the effectiveness, of quality activities/systems in the Hospital

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain all documentation related to Quality, Environment, Food Safety, Occupational
    • Health and Safety Programmes in the hospital;
    • Plan and facilitate documentation of quality objectives, environmental aspects, environmental management plans and objectives in departments;
    • Track progress in implementation of quality, environment, food safety, occupational health and safety objectives in departments;
    • Liaise with HODs and ensure that the departmental polices and other standard operating procedures are reviewed and approved appropriately and the hospital repository is updated;
    • Develop quality systems training and awareness schedule for departments to facilitate continual quality improvement with International standards for excellence in healthcare services;
    • Conduct/ review food safety hazard analysis along the food chain and document prerequisite programs, operational prerequisite programs and critical control points including monitoring systems;
    • Ensure legal and statutory compliance by conducting EMS & OHS legal/ statutory evaluation and address the emerging/ identified gaps;
    • Organize and facilitate quality systems internal audits by documenting preparations, assignments schedules and notifications;
    • Design and review on continuous basis EMS, food safety, occupational health and safety inspections checklists;
    • Plan and execute EMS, food safety, occupational health and inspections in departments;
    • Work closely with HODs to ensure their department’s QEOHS requirements are in place;
    • Participate in Quality, environment, food safety and occupational health and safety accidents/ incidents, dangerous occurrences investigations and document findings;
    • Ensure that all internal and external Quality, Environment, Health and Safety communication materials are in place and conforming;
    • Collate findings and document quality systems audit reports;
    • Identify, interpret and communicate the standards as applicable to the hospital and to each functional level;
    • Facilitate the documentation (manuals, policies, procedures/SOPs, work instructions, protocols, guidelines, objectives etc.) requirements as indicated in the standards (Quality MS9001-2015, Environmental MS 14001-2015, Food SMS 22000-2018, Joint CIA – 6th edition, OSHA-2007);
    • Distribute and disseminate the updated procedures as and when necessary;
    • Plan for, conduct, report on and make follow ups of audits (Internal and external) inspections also internal and external, and patient safety tracers;
    • Maintain all certification schedules for accreditation, re-accreditation and internal audits
    • Ensure regulatory occupational health and safety risk assessments, fire audits, health and safety audits and incidents/accident reports to DOHSS;
    • Participate in drills to tests hospital emergency plans and identify improvement needs; and
    • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies or Bachelor of Science in Environment or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.
    • Must be a qualified ISO Quality systems implementer and auditor and have Gemma kaizen training.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience preferably in quality systems (QMS, EMS, FSMS & OHS).

    Reporting to Chief Accountant, the successful applicants will be responsible job is to help process, track, and record payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner in line with the
    established guidelines.

    Key duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Participating in development, review and implementation of the payable policies and procedures in line with best practices and industry trends;
    2. Supporting in optimizing financial transactions and systems by performing reconciliation of payments and customer accounts;
    3. Gathering and verifying invoices for appropriate documentation prior to payment;
    4. Calculating, post business transactions, process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records, and provide other clerical support necessary to pay the obligations of the organization;
    5. Maintaining copies of vouchers, invoices or correspondence necessary for files;
    6. Clarifying any questionable invoice items, prices or receiving signatures, obtain proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments;
    7. Preparing vouchers listing invoice number, date, vendor address, item description, amounts and coding per accounting policies and procedures;
    8. Ensuring transactions are captured in journals, ledgers and other records, reconcile accounts payable transactions and prepare analysis of accounts;
    9. Preparing analysis of accounts, monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date and research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues;
    10. Producing monthly reports, assist with month end closing, provide supporting documentation
    11. for audits and maintain accurate historical records; and
    12. Any other responsibility assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

    Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or other business related fields from a recognized institution.
    2. Must be a qualified accountant with relevant professional qualifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) or ACCA.
    3. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting.
