    Finance & Contracts Coordinator- USAID Advancing Nutrition-Kenya

    Job Description

    Save the Children International Kenya Country office, has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Finance & Contracts Coordinator- USAID Advancing Nutrition-Kenya. The primary responsibility of the role holder is to advise the Chief of Party and the organization on financial and compliance management of the contract. The role holder will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the project is in compliance with finance and contract guidelines according to USAID, USAID Advancing Nutrition and SCI policy and procedures. S/he will manage the full breadth of finance activities, financial controls, and computerized accounting systems for the project that is in operation in Nairobi, Kisumu, Kakamega, and Kitui in alignment with Save the Children’s financial procedures. The job holder will be expected to also support Awards Management, by advising on compliance, chairing monthly awards review meetings in consultation with the Awards Manager, coordinating BVA feedback, and working with budget holders to ensure implementation is on track. The Finance and Contracts Coordinator will be a senior member of the USAID Advancing Nutrition programme team. In this challenging environment, the Finance and Contracts Coordinator will be responsible not only for compliance with critical SCI policies, ensuring that financial resources of the organization are shepherded in an accountable and transparent manner as well as be responsible for ensuring all donor reporting and regulations are followed. The role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

    Qualification and Experience

    Essential

    1. A first degree in Commerce Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Post-graduate qualification and (Diploma/MBA) an added benefit.
    2. Qualified accountant with recognized professional qualification in Accounting (CPA, ACCA)
    3. Training/certification in USAID cooperative agreement or contract rules and regulations preferred.
    4. Minimum 5-8 years’ similar work experience within a fast-paced international NGO work environment with 3 years’ experience managing a USAID Contract 
    5. Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
    6. Fluency (Verbal and Written) in English is required
    7. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills of financial information
    8. Strong team player, collaborative and capable of building effective relationships across all levels
    9. Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind-sets
    10. Problem solving and risk mitigating skills 
    11. Proficiency in Microsoft Officer Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and financial software such as Agresso.

    County Technical Coordinator – Nutrition

    Job Description

    Save the Children International Kenya Country office, has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as County Technical Coordinator – Nutrition. The role holder under the direction of the Capacity Strengthening Advisor and Nutrition-Sensitive Advisor will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of multisectoral nutrition (MSN) activities of USAID Advancing Nutrition at the County level. This position will play a critical role in providing leadership and technical support to the County Departments of Health, Agriculture, Education and social protection in the implementation of the joint action plan. The position holder will support in the capacity strengthening elements of the program and will be involved in the development of program advocacy documents and in the convening of Multisector nutrition (MSN) forums. This position will have extensive travel between the sub counties. The role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

    Qualification and Experience

    1. Bachelor degree in Nutrition or other relevant discipline
    2. At least 3-5 years’ relevant nutrition project work experience in an international NGO or similar organization
    3. Familiarity and understanding of the decentralised services in target MSN departments
    4. Intense understanding of the MSN departments (agriculture/health/education etc.)
    5. Effective working relationships with stakeholders from government agencies, international organisations, donors, academics and opinion-leaders.
    6. Experience with the following approaches; systems strengthening, training and capacity building
    7. Experience working with Civil Society Organizations and the private sector
    8. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
    9. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of organizations
    10. Excellent written and oral communication skills
    11. Good knowledge and experience of USAID-funded projects, preferred. 
    12. Good presentation and persuasion skills
    13. Familiarity with Kisumu county and ability to speak local language, highly preferred

    10. Computer literacy, particularly in the use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    11. Familiarity with Kakamega and/or Kitui and able to communicate in local dialects

The Coordinator will map out key child participation forums at the county level to ensure children voices contribute to the realisation of the project’s objectives besides packaging information/research findings and developing appropriate communication channels for dissemination of information/research findings; project documentation and dissemination; capacity building, learning and knowledge management. The role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    1. At least 5 years of experience in advocacy work, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of advocacy strategies. Experience working within the education sector is an added advantage.
    2. Highly knowledgeable on Child Rights Governance including; Public Investment in Children
    3. Excellent understanding of Kenya’s budget cycle (both at county and national level) and moments.
    4. An understanding of policy and legislative development processes at both national and county levels.
    5. Superior written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex arguments into accessible English for a non-specialist audience, and the ability to write articles that would be published in the mainstream press.
    6. Knowledge of the devolution processes, and its impact on the health sector.
    7. Excellent verbal communication skills, appropriate for high-level external representation (for example lobbying county governors, ministers, MCAs)
    8. Experience of developing advocacy strategies, knowledge and understanding of a range of advocacy techniques
    9. Experience of effective team work and outstanding inter-personal communication skills
    10. Experience of coalition building and working with civil society actors to deliver change
    11. Excellent understanding of Sustainable Development Goals, Vision 2030, policy and legal provisions in support of child survival.
    12. Fluency in spoken and written English and Kiswahili
    13. Commitment to Save the Children’s mission and values

    Desirable:

    1. An academic qualification directly related to Social Sciences, Political Science, and Governance, International development or Community development.
    2. Experience and training on policy and advocacy.
