    Human Resources Officer

    REF: TNH/HRD/HRO/03/2021      

    Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing real time human resources support in the assigned division/business unit including recruitment, day to day HR administration, learning and development and employee separation matters in line with established HR policies and procedures.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinate the performance management cycle from objectives setting to performance monitoring and year-end review for the assigned business unit;
    • Facilitate and coordinate the end-to-end training and development process for staff including planning and logistics support;
    • Provide HR guidance and support to the allocated business unit across a breadth of areas including talent management, employee development, performance management, change management and employee relations;
    • Facilitate talent reviews and succession planning discussions and work with the business unit to ensure succession plans are actively put into practice;
    • Assist with labour relations initiatives through ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreements well as the company rules and regulations in the business unit;
    • Support the development of talent to enable the business unit to attract, retain and motivate talent in consultation with the business unit leader;
    • Coordinate and facilitate the entire process of performance management, ensuring timely submission of reports and their analysis within the allocated business unit;
    • Provide support and advice on people related challenges and issues facing the business unit;
    • Ensure that leave plans are in place and are adhered to in consultation with the business unit head;
    • Prepare the human resource forecasts for the business unit in consultation the divisional Heads in scoping and justification of proposed and existing roles in line with the business strategy by recommending optimal staff establishment;
    • Initiate the separation process and lead the exit of the employees from the Hospital in the assigned business unit;
    • Address the day to day HR administrative support to staff in the business unit;
    • Develop payroll reports accounting for staff cost including current staff establishment in the respective business unit and attrition data;
    • Advise division heads and line managers on appropriate disciplinary process to determine the most prudent approach at division level;
    • Hold regular meetings with Head of Departments and line managers to establish needs as relates to all HR matters including staffing needs, succession planning, attrition, etc.
    • Ensure that staff have relevant licenses and that all other documentation relating to their profession are updated and valid to ensure compliance with required standards and regulatory needs;
    • Supervise and motivate the HR Assistants including performance appraisal, identification of training needs, mentorship and coaching as well as leave and absence management in line with the hospital’s people agenda; and
    • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Social Sciences, Business Administration or any other business related field from a recognized institution.
    • Must have partial Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) qualifications or hold a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution.
    • Must be registered with a valid practicing license from the Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM).
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in as a HR generalist with 1 year at supervisory level.

    Technical & Behavioral competencies

    • Knowledge of best and current human resource practices and approaches.
    • Broad knowledge and experience in leading practices in organization development, compensation, talent management and development and employee relations
    • Knowledge of the Kenyan Labour Laws.

    Head of Engineering

    REF: TNH/HRD/HOE/03/2021          

    Reporting to Director Human Resources & Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and management oversight for the technical services department in order to ensure the Hospital’s plant and facilities are in good working condition in line with established quality and safety standards.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop creative and innovative strategies for technical services in line with the Hospital’s overall strategy;
    • Translate the strategic aims of the unit into achievable plans, with established priorities and make periodic adjustments as required;
    • Keep abreast of local and global best practices in technical services and make recommendations to the Director HR & Operations on how this impact the Hospital;
    • Demonstrate ownership of and communicate the technical services strategic direction and objectives to all staff;
    • Develop policies and procedures for technical Services and provide guidance to management in the interpretation and implementation of these;
    • Continuously review and update and enhance the Hospital’s technical services policy and procedure manual;
    • Prepare a schedule for the implementation of construction and maintenance works and services for the Hospital;
    • Review construction designs, specification and bill of quantities, estimation reports in line with requirements;
    • Oversee the preparation of design, specification, bill of quantities and cost estimation for constructions, and maintenance/modification and expansion works;
    • Oversee building constructions and maintenance or modifications and report on progress as per the Hospital’s policies, procedures and guidelines;
    • Ensure that payment certificates are prepared as per the terms and condition of the contract;
    • Ensure planning permission has been duly applied for from relevant government authorities;
    • Ensure that construction and maintenance or modification of buildings is done in accordance with the design, specification and the terms and conditions of the contract;
    • Make periodic visits to construction sites as deemed necessary;
    • Follow up the proper implementation of construction and maintenance or modification activities and submit progress report timely.
    • Ensure that proper records and documents are maintained for construction in progress and terminated contracts;
    • Plan, lead and monitor the performance of outsourced consultants and/or contractors.
    • Advise management in selection of appropriate locations/sites for construction of buildings.
    • Oversee the preparation of tenders for construction works and participate in the tender process for evaluation and selection of contractors/consultants/suppliers for construction and/or modification;
    • Oversee modification and new constructions and ensure that works are completed within and the expected standards;
    • Ensure that design works and contract documents for new works are prepared in accordance with laws, regulations, and standards prevailing in the Industry and the Hospital;
    • In consultation with the Legal Department, ensure preparation of contract agreements for building construction, maintenance, modification and expansion works;
    • Monitor service level agreements (SLA) and report periodically;
    • Approve payments within the discretionary limits set by the Hospital;
    • Prepare the Technical services budget and monitor its implementation upon approval;
    • Identify, deploy and motivate the Technical services team including performance appraisal, identification of training needs, mentorship and coaching as well as leave and absence management in line with the Hospital’s people agenda; and
    • Perform any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Quantity Survey, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical and Electronic Engineering or any other related field from a recognized institution;
    • Master Degree in any of the above or any other related fields in Business from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
    • Must be registered professional with the relevant professional body in Kenya and hold a valid practicing license;
    • Minimum of 15 years’ hands on technical experience with 5 years’ at Management Level;
    • Project management skills. Must be a Certified Management Professional in project management programs or equivalent qualification.

    Company Secretary

    REF: TNH/HRD/CS /03/2021

    The successful candidate will be responsible for providing secretarial support to the Board of Management and Board Committees; facilitate, organize and coordinate Board activities; ensure the Hospital is compliant with the relevant statutory and regulatory requirements as well as ensure that high standards of corporate governance are maintained in line with the Law and the Hospital’s strategic objectives. Secretarial services will also be provided to Kenya Hospital Association (KHA) in its meetings.

     ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop creative and innovative legal strategies that are in line with the Hospital’s overall strategy; Keep abreast of local and global best practices in legal and company secretarial services and make recommendations to the CEO and the Chairman, Board of Directors on how these impact the Hospital;
    • Provide legal advisory services to all areas of the Hospital to ensure that effective legal contracts are developed and monitor and review the Hospital’s legal risks and provide appropriate mitigations to safeguard the Hospital from potential legal losses;
    • Demonstrate ownership of and communicate the legal department’s strategic direction and objectives to all staff;
    • Participate as member of senior management in formulating corporate strategies, policies, plans and budgets and in monitoring the Hospital’s performance to ensure that the corporate objectives and targets are achieved;
    • Ensure that the Board fulfils its statutory responsibilities and meets good governance and practice standards;
    • Implementation of the whistleblowing policy’.
    • Ensure all meetings of the Board of Directors are run in accordance with the governing laws and the Board charter;
    • Organize, attend, record and produce minutes and resolutions of deliberations of all Board meetings, Annual and Extraordinary meetings in accordance with the applicable legislations;
    • Establish and manage processes and procedures to build capacity for sound corporate governance;
    • Facilitate assessment of the Board and individual director’s as well as the Board Committees performance periodically in line with the Law and assess the level of compliance with the Board Charter;
    • Assess developmental/technical training needs of the Board, develop a training schedule and facilitate Board Trainings;
    • Work with the Hospital’s Executive Management to carry out initiatives of the Board.
    • Ensure timely preparation and distribution of materials (e.g., requests, agendas, schedules, notices, resolutions, etc.) for the Board and Board Sub Committees;
    • Keep all official records of the Board’s activities (minutes of proceedings, resolutions, etc.), including those of Board Committees, copies are also provided to concerned as directed by the Board;
    • Oversee the Board and Board Committee calendars; help determine and plan the frequency of meetings;
    • Advise Board members of significant operational incidents, accidents and media coverage in a timely manner;
    • Build, lead and motivate a competent legal management team that will in turn ensure that the department has the right people in the right places to sustainably support the delivery of legal services at the Hospital; and
    • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

     QUALFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from a recognized institution.
    • Master of Laws degree (LLM) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) or any other related fields in Business from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
    • Certified Public Secretary (CPS) with a valid and current Practicing Certificate issued under the Certified Public Secretaries Act.
    • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid and current practicing certificate.
    • Minimum of 15 years’ legal practice experience preferably in a corporate environment with 5 years at management level.
    • Ability to conduct extensive and comprehensive legal research to aid in decision making Ability to represent the interests of the Hospital’s shareholders and act on behalf of the Hospital in the issuance of formal communication
    • Ability to oversee budgeting and planning for the department
