    Head of Scouts - Roses

    • As a Head of scouts, you are responsible for overseeing daily scouting activities, preparing reports, keeping crop protection records for future references, weekly monitoring of the scouts’ performance and performance appraisal, optimal allocation of Labour and other resources, ensure compliance with policies, procedures and instructions by juniors, handle disciplinary/grievance cases referred to you by your juniors in liaison with the HR department.     Your tasks and responsibilities

    • To oversee the scouting daily activities.
    • To ensure that scouters reporting time is strictly maintained.
    • Control overtime.
    • Preparing daily reports.
    • Keeping crop protection records for future references.
    • To ensure scouters understand their job duties and expectations as laid out in the job descriptions.
    • Communicate and set targets for all scouters.
    • Weekly monitoring of the operations team performance and taking appropriate action
    • To carry out performance appraisals for scouters
    • Follow up on gaps identified during appraisal process and ensure that action points are attended to.
    • To optimally allocate labour and other resources, promote team work spirit to achieve the highest possible efficiency.
    • Ensure juniors are compliant to Policies/Procedures and work instructions.
    • To handle disciplinary/grievance cases referred to you arising from juniors, liaise with Human
    • Resources Department and where possible to resolve them amicably while keeping the Human
    • Resources Department informed
    • Responsible for dealing with issues escalated to him/her.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the immediate manager or senior management.

    Your profile

    • Degree/Diploma in Horticulture or Agriculture
    • Experience in roses’ crop protection

    Head Office QA Manager - Roses Packhouse

    • As a QA Manager – Roses Packhouse, you will provide a critical oversight of all Quality control processes and measures in the packhouse as per the quality control manual and standards, to ensure maximum production of quality roses that meet premium requirements.
    • You will also assist in implementation of various floriculture programs & Operations across the Flower Packhouses, while ensuring adherence to all standards/certifications – GAP, KFC, MPS.

    Your tasks and responsibilities

    • Oversee and monitor quality control mechanism in conformity to the quality manual to ensure production and supply of Quality stems as per client specification.
    • Ensure stock management and movement is done as per the set company standards.
    • Coordinating implementation of Global GAP and other market standards in the production process of AAA packhouses to ensure good quality and markets’ conforming products.
    • Coordinate for product quality and product development. Coordinate for preparation of vase life flowers, conduct vase life analysis for both trials and commercial varieties as per the procedure and come up with a weekly report on upcoming quality issues noted in vase.
    • Coordinating different lines for AAA Flowers packhouses.
    • Ensure all customer complaints are properly investigated and addressed timely and satisfactorily with clear corrective measures to avoid reoccurrence.
    • Conduct Packhouse scheduled visits to cover crop visits, trails, documentation audits and spray programs / pest surveillance.
    • Ensure that hygiene and safety standards are maintained in the Roses packhouses.
    • Ensure that all Quality activities and processes at the packhouses are done in compliance to principles of ethics, safety, and Integrity standards.
    • Managing various trials in the Packhouse together with the Roses Commercial Manager, General Manager – Packhouses and General Manager - Flowers
    • Building up of skilled workforce for the field production units through recruitment and training. Prepare and/ or review job descriptions for packhouse staffs.

    Your profile

    • Graduate in Horticulture, Floriculture, Agriculture or Environmental Science.
    • 5-7 years’ experience in a Flower Industry preferably Roses Production.
    • 3 years’ experience in a similar or related position.
    • Relevant experience in occupational health and safety, environmental, Global Gap, KFC and MPS auditing.
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Standards and Internal Auditing skills.
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
    • Excellent leadership skills and management skills.
    • Analytical mindset, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and team player. facilitating cross-functional collaboration.
    • Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
    • Proficient computer skills in MS Office applications, particularly with Excel.

    Head of Crop Protection - VEG

    Key responsibilities:

    • To keep all pests of concern in the farm below threshold and ensure maximum harvestable crop with below threshold pest level at Packhouse intake.

    OVERAL DUTIES

    • To implement chemical crop protection activities for the farm or assigned area.
    • To plan weekly spray programs for all crops in consultation with the Production Manager.
    • To obtain, follow and update IRAC and FRAC guidelines on use of pesticides.
    • To ascertain and supervise the use of only registered chemicals for each crop grown.
    • To eliminate chemical residue detection by observance of PHI and reduction of tank mixed active ingredients.
    • To ensure integrity of the spray equipment through regular calibrations (minimum monthly).
    • To ensure the spray equipment is always in a serviceable state and to follow up on any repairs that may be needed.
    • To implement various IPM approaches that help in better pest control, reducing the cost of controls and dependence on synthetic chemicals.
    • Continuous supervision and training of the crop protection teams for optimum results and safety of the spray team.
    • To carry out any other duties as instructed by the farm manager from time to time.
    • Maintenance of spray machinery and equipment
    • To maintain spray machinery, equipment, and the Personal Protective Equipment in good working condition by frequent checks, cleaning, calibration, and servicing.
    • Handling of crop protection products
    • Control all handling, mixing, and transporting of chemicals and disposal of chemical product packaging empties generated within the farm.

    Staff

    • To ensure that all staff in the team have signed in and out.
    • To allocate daily work targets to staff and record performance of all team members
    • To maintain staff discipline and welfare in accordance with the company policy.
    • Ensuring the number of staff in the books tally with physical count in your department.

    Record Keeping

    • To keep accurate records of all chemical applications done, equipment checks, flushing and cleaning of spray equipment’s in the farm in formats provided.

    Health and Safety

    • To maintain the standard measures of the health and safety among the staff and order all requisite PPE for the spray dept.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the immediate manager or senior management.

    SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Ability to plan for sprays for different crop growth stages and generate a weekly spray plan.
    • Keeping up to date with new trends and products for crop protection
    • An understanding of PPPL’s for the various crops under production
    • A very good appreciation of pest threshold levels and their effect on final quality and production
    • Carrying out efficacy tests periodically.
