Job Summary
The Program Lead will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the PEP Medical Training Colleges （MTCs） anchorage phase program in Kenya. This role ensures effective delivery of work packages, coordination among partners, risk management, and compliance with donor requirements. The Program Lead will serve as the central point of accountability for program execution, communication, and reporting, ensuring alignment with the vision of strengthening institutional capacity for cardiometabolic disease （CMD） education and research in Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management and Delivery

• Lead planning, execution, and monitoring of all program work packages.
• Ensure timely delivery of outputs and outcomes as outlined in the project’s Theory of Change and Results Framework.
• Oversee integration of CMD curricula into diploma and higher diploma programs across MTCs.
• Coordinate establishment and operationalization of Centers of Excellence （COEs）.

Partner Communication and Engagement

• Serve as the primary liaison between CHAK, KMTC, KCCB, Amref Health Africa, APHRC, NCD Alliance Kenya, and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate regular partner meetings, ensuring transparent communication and collaborative decision-making.
• Strengthen national, regional, and global collaboration networks.

Risk Management and Control

• Identify, assess, and monitor program risks in line with the Risk Matrix and Mitigation Measures.
• Implement proactive mitigation strategies to safeguard program delivery.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, national policies, and institutional regulations.

Reporting and Accountability

• Prepare and submit timely progress reports, financial updates, and donor-required documentation.
• Ensure adherence to the Reporting Framework and Responsibility Assignment Matrix （RAM）.
• Provide evidence-based updates to the Steering Committee and Novo Nordisk Foundation.

Overall Project Coordination

• Lead the Project Management Unit （PMU） in day-to-day operations.
• Align program activities with national health and education priorities.
• Ensure gender equity, inclusion, and sustainability are embedded across all program components.
• Foster a culture of research, innovation, and knowledge sharing within MTCs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s degree in public health, Health Economics and Policy, Health Systems Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in health systems strengthening, workforce development, or program management.
• Proven track record in donor-funded project leadership, preferably in NCDs or CMD-related initiatives.
• Strong expertise in results-based management, monitoring & evaluation, and risk control.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-partner initiatives across diverse national contexts.

Job Summary
The Senior Program Officer will provide technical leadership in curriculum development, medical pedagogy, and simulation-based learning within CHAK Medical Training Colleges （MTCs）. This role is central to institutionalizing innovative teaching methods, strengthening faculty capacity, and embedding competency-based education that equips frontline health professionals with skills to prevent and manage cardiometabolic diseases （CMDs）.

Key Responsibilities

 Curriculum Development

• Support design, review, and integration of inclusive CMD curricula into diploma and higher diploma programs.
• Ensure curricula reflect competency-based education principles and align with national health priorities and regulatory frameworks.
• Incorporate gender-responsive content, equity-focused modules, and locally relevant case studies

 Medical Pedagogy Institutionalization

• Institutionalize modern medical pedagogy across CHAK MTCs, embedding innovative teaching approaches.
• Build faculty capacity in digital pedagogy, online blended learning, and inclusive teaching methods.
• Promote experiential learning and culturally responsive mentorship practices.

Simulation-Based Learning

• Lead the integration of simulation-based education into MTC training programs.
• Oversee acquisition, adaptation, and utilization of simulation tools and facilities.
• Train faculty and students in simulation methodologies to enhance practical skills and clinical readiness.

Capacity Strengthening

• Mentor faculty in curriculum design, pedagogy, and simulation techniques.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions to institutionalize innovative teaching methods.
• Support continuous professional development for educators and clinical preceptors.

Collaboration and Advocacy

• Work closely with CHAK, KMTC, KCCB, Amref, APHRC, and NCD Alliance Kenya to harmonize curriculum and pedagogy reforms.
• Advocate for increased investment in simulation infrastructure and innovative teaching methods.
• Represent CHAK MTCs in national and regional forums on medical education and pedagogy.

Monitoring and Reporting

• Track progress of curriculum reforms and simulation integration against program indicators.
• Document best practices, lessons learned, and case studies for dissemination.
• Contribute to donor reporting and institutional publications

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in medical education, Curriculum Development, Public Health, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in curriculum design, medical pedagogy, or simulation-based education.
• Work experience as a tutor in medical training colleges.
• Proven expertise in competency-based education and faculty development.
• Strong understanding of CMDs, NCDs, and workforce development challenges in Kenya.
• Experience in institutional advocacy and engagement with academic leadership.
