    Clinical Officer

    OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

    The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quality and safe healthcare services to patients while adhering to Hospitals’ policies and procedures in order to meet treatment goals. H/se will be expected to be an active member of the multidisciplinary health care team and contribute to the continuing professional development programs in the Hospital.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Guide and counsel patients, clients, and staff on Health issues.
    • Examine, diagnose, and treat patients’ common ailments at the facility.
    • Review and examine patients consistently by performing such duties as taking case histories, conducting physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic laboratory and radiology studies in compliance with evidence-based practice and established procedures.
    • Collect and compile clinical data.
    • Monitor acute and chronically ill patients’ progress on a regular basis.
    • Provide evidence-based screening and wellness examinations, risk assessment, early detection, and education on prevention of illness.
    • Initiate timely discussions with relevant consultants/departments to arrive at the best treatment plan for specialized cases.
    • Initiate discussions with patients and care givers to enable better diagnostic and therapeutic medical care and services.
    • Work closely with members of the clinical and non-clinical teams to provide coordinated care, reduce errors and waste and create efficiency in resource utilization.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery
    • Must be registered as a Clinical Officer with a valid practice license.
    • At least 2 years’ experience as a Clinical Officer.

    Nursing Manager, Operating Room/Perioperative Services

    The position

    Reporting to the Head of Nursing Services, the position holder will provide expert clinical leadership and management within the department by providing a high safe and supportive environment through optimizing use of staff, premises, equipment, and other resources with the overall objective of establishing, maintaining, and providing care.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and efficient care at the department by monitoring and evaluating patient care processes. 
    • Efficient running of the department through monitoring of managerial indicators and sharing monthly updates with the Head of Nursing Services.
    • Provides leadership and direction for the staff in the operating room arena while supporting and delivering departmental goals.
    • Ensure efficiency and reduction in turnaround time in the Operating Room through the supervision and coordination of daily planning and implementation of the surgery schedule and activities of personnel in the operating room.
    • Development and review of departmental policies and work closely with the Nursing Education Office along with the Head of Nursing Services, to ensure they are evidenced based and of the required standard.
    • Participate in continuous quality improvement and risk management programs at the department level in a collaborative manner with multi-disciplinary colleagues.
    • Participate in the upholding and maintenance of Patient Safety Standards in the department and the institution at large in accordance with the hospital’s quality guidelines. Participate in Quality improvement strategies, initiatives, and audits to ensure compliance.
    • Participate in intra and inter departmental collaborative approaches through multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Work closely with the nursing education office in ensuring the regular and continuous update of nursing skills and development.

    The requirements

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN)
    • Certificate in KRPON
    • Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya
    • Certification in ACLS
    • Member of a professional body.
    • Minimum 4 years of professional and leadership experience in a busy Operating Room
    • Knowledge of Joint Commission and Safe Care Standards.
    • Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations involving patients, physicians, or other others in a professional manner.
    • Data analysis skills
    • Good training and training development skills
