Current Vacancies at Bible Translation and Literacy

• The candidates must possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, and must be proactive and able to work under minimum supervision.
• The Translator shall be responsible for translating Scriptures in the Kabaras Language in a natural, clear, and accurate manner. He/she shall work closely with the Translation Specialists, the Local Church, Local Community and other relevant Stakeholders.

Qualifications

• A First Degree in Social sciences, Theology, or Biblical Studies is preferred, or a diploma in the same fields with work experience.
• Minimum C plain in KCSE
• Introductory Course to Translation Principles (ICTP) certificate will be an added advantage
• Excellent speaker of Kabaras language
• Good Computer Skills
• Valid license and ability to ride a motorcycle will be an added advantage
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
• A team player who is honest and of high integrity and respect within the community

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Linguistic Coordinator to develop the respective language.
• Mobilize the community and create awareness about the work of Bible translation and language Development,
• The Language Development Assistant will work closely with the respective church and community leaders and other relevant stakeholders in the language development process.

Qualifications

• Must be a born again Christian with a good Christian standing.
• A bachelor’s degree in linguistics is preferred, but also a bachelor’s degree in education specializing in English and literature or Kiswahili, or a bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field will be considered.
• Mastery of the respective language.
• Excellent analytical skills especially in linguistics.
• Good research skills.
• Excellent report writing and computer skills.
• Ability to work well in a team.
