    D&T Lead Business Analyst

    Job Description :

    Our ambition is to be the digital leader in our industry and the D&T Product Owners play a crucial role in making this a reality, in partnership with our key stakeholders from business teams.

    Lead BA role has a key part to play in this agenda and for effective impact in Diageo globally, the role has been designed to focus on both functional and global deliverables.

    Lead BA will focus in driving competitive advantage for Diageo markets through focus on customer and consumer, enabling outstanding planning capabilities; expand margins through enabling continuous reduction of COGs, influence reliable, accurate, standard and cost effective business services, and participate in enabling our people become as effective as possible, collaborate efficiently and access information easily.

    Dimensions

    This role will have a degree of financial responsibility for identifying (in conjunction with other parts of D&T and the project team) all D&T spend associated with any analysis or requirements within process and data areas.

    The role will support any or a combination of the following areas:

    •                One Plan

    • This role is accountable for Solution Delivery and Business Process Services Delivery/Optimization for the E2E planning capabilities in Diageo globally. Markets can include owned subsidiaries, JV’s and/or third party distributors, with both Demand and Supply operations.

    • It is a Global role covering all markets. The role will manage the Digital & Technology Transform E2E Planning Consumer and Customer Planning agenda with Regional & Market Leadership Teams and subject matter experts across the organization.

    • D&T relationship management success will be critically dependent upon successful joined up Region and Function planning   – and subsequently the ownership of stakeholder relationships from the Plan, Transform, Run and A&I teams

    Purpose of Role

    • The purpose of this role is to support the Business Partner by leading the areas of process, information and data analysis within the assigned functional area(s). The post holder is to become a subject matter expert in their process area(s) bringing competitive and industry best practise analysis and provide recommendation for specific investment.
    • The role will also drive metrics in their domain process as well as lead and implement projects in their domain with tangible delivery of benefits. They will be responsible for leading and supporting business case generation, analysis, design, QA of Build and PT, User acceptance and benefits realisation.     EABL operates within a multi-cultural, multinational, multi-currency environment. EABL comprises five business units: KBL, UDV, EAML, SBL and UBL. KBL is further categorized into Demand and Supply. The Supply business is involved in production of beer and spirits. The Demand business is involved in marketing and pushing the product to consumers.
     
    The department packages a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and stout. The department must maintain the quality of these beverages and they must reach the ultimate customer in the best possible quality standards that entails both the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects of beer. The consumer is now more discerning, and demands both quality and value for money.     The Supply function is undergoing major changes in its ways of work through rollout of the Manufacturing Management system (MMS) and process upgrade of its brewery & packaging lines into sophisticated highly automated equipment. The job holder is responsible for the Packaging a complex portfolio of brands and pack sizes to meet sales and marketing demand. Currently 16 brands and 113 SKUs including beers, kegs and cans are in packaged in Tusker.
     

    Purpose of Role

    • Lead and motivate Tier 1 shift team to take accountability to deliver World Class performance in Safety, Quality, Asset Care, Hygiene, Productivity (Volume and Losses) and controls and morale. This includes ensuring Tier 1 meetings are used to drive objectives

    • Drive compliance to Health, Safety and Environment system requirements and reporting at the shop floor in service of zero harm culture

    • Ensure that Quality, Food Safety and Hygiene Systems requirements in place are met and drive conformance to internal/Diageo and regulatory standards, and adherence to accreditations and certification standards (ISO, KEBs and DNVGL etc.)

    • Actively use the EISC tools to drive continuous improvement e.g. RCPS, DMAICs etc.

    • Own and drive asset care plans for the shift by delivering preventative and autonomous tasks

    • Implement designed controls tasks in all processes from materials receipt, packaging and account for use on the process through reconciliation to account for and control losses

    • Ensure resource availability for the shift including but not limited to Materials, beer, glass, people and warehouse space

    • Ensure compliance with KRA/KEBs regulatory requirements in the EGMS system through accounting for all stamps/stickers issued for use in process and controlling losses

    • The Shift Packaging Manager is responsible for ensuring shift planned Bright Beer Volumes are bottled and meet all the set quality specifications in order to meet the daily, weekly and monthly targets that match the Sales forecast.

    • Ensure correct brand cut-offs, filling and all other packaging operations for efficient and timely availability of scheduled beer in the warehouses.

    • Manage reconciliation of materials usage and finished goods during change overs to minimize losses and sign of reconciliations relating to the materials returned 

    • Give priority areas needed for weekly maintenance, supervise breakdowns and planned maintenance giving full consideration of Health, safety and environmental issues. Actively participate in maintenance activities for the line and hold the tension with Asset Care to reduce machine long and short stops

    • Implement change management in the deployment of MMS Best Practices

    • Run weekly assessments for team members through the performance measurement process to drive accountability and ownership with improvement plans for individuals scoring below set targets

    •  Update Teams performances in Tier 2 and drive performance meetings and conversations with teams

    • Drive team performance through identification of training needs, development of training plans as well as on job mentoring and coaching

    • Manage team annual leaves.

    • Actively spend 80% of time on shop floor

    • Tusker Brewery has 5 packaging Lines (2 Bottling Lines, 2 Kegging Lines and a Canning Line)

    • UDV has major interfaces with the Tusker since the two sites share the same Utilities Plant, RTDs are packaged in the Beer Lines and both plants are served by the one Logistics set up (warehouse and resources).

    Maintenance budget:  Kshs. 16 million per month per line
    Packaging budget: Kshs. 2.8 billion (including Excise Duty)

    KBL operates in a liberalized and competitive but shrinking beer market with a depressed and diminishing disposable income.  The consumer is now more discerning, and demands both quality and value for money. The company seeks to perform all its activities in a compliant way as prescribed in the Diageo Codes, Policies and Standards.
    KBL is currently operating two bottling lines, two keg lines and one canning line with annual capacity of beverage packaged per year - 17.3 million metric cases of 12 hrs. shift working system, 24 hours operation, 7 days production and 1 day maintenance as per a 10 day cycle

    Blending Technician

    Context/Scope

    UDV operates within a multi-cultural, multinational, multi-currency environment. UDV is involved in production of spirits. The technician will be responsible for operating assigned machines/process, monitoring and maintaining machine/process documentation required by the different systems and standards in place. Additionally, this role has maintenance responsibilities as assigned by Shift Manager/ACM. Other one-off responsibilities might be assigned based on situations but within the confines of the role

    The role works closely with Asset Care Team (Technicians, Planner and ACM), Quality Analysts, Materials Clerks, Shift Managers, and other technicians within team and those in other teams

    UDV has a Blending Plant for products at 40% ABV, an RTD blending plant, and a Packaging Plant which has 4 Lines with annual capacity of 5.6m EUs. UDV operates in an FMCG environment in which it controls about 60% of the spirits market, with a huge potential for further growth, both within and outside the country. It now has all its production operations carried out on one site. UDV sells most of its products mainly in the local market. However, it sells a lot of spirits products in Great Lakes Region. UDV produces locally crafted brands but also produces some global brands (Smirnoff Vodka, Gilbeys Gin, Captain Morgan, Mr Dowels, Orijin Bitters) under licence. UDV plant exists in the same geographical location with Tusker Brewery whose capacity is 5.4m HLs has and packaging capacity of 7.0m HL.

    Purpose of Role

    To efficiently operate process machines to produce high quality UDV products/services to meet both local and international standards in a safe environment and at the lowest cost.

    The role reports into the Shift Manager.

    • Schedule destination tanks for the neutral spirit being offloaded to ensure trucks are offloaded at the shortest time possible

    • Schedule tanks for blending of products required guided by the packaging plan to meet the targeted finished goods volume by shift, day and week.

    • Blend the required brands as guided by the (BTMs) Brand Technical Manuals and Recipes to meet the necessary quality and brand attributes to service the packaging plan.

    • Operate the Charcoal filtration plant for Smirnoff Vodka and Kenyan vodkas to meet the BTM specification

    • Run the associated blending plant activities and operations to ensure plant objectives are met

    • Maintain the required documentation for the offloading and blending processes, materials consumed and residual materials to be used as entries into SAP by the Materials Team

    • Prepare operations reports in offloading, blending and materials handling for the period on duty to be circulated to relevant stakeholders for decision making

    • Operate the demineralised water plant and maintain the records in place for the plant in compliance with Food Safety requirements, given that it’s an OPRP

    • Liaise with the RTD blenders in service of the RTD production plan that’s packed in the Beer Packaging Plant

    • Run stock counts and reconciliation for the materials issued/in blending operation to ensure all established controls are adhered to.

    • Work in liaison with Materials Team to compute process losses and take action to eliminate the losses

    • Participate in team continuous improvement activities to achieve set outcomes for targeted KPIs

    • Participate in problem solving with focus on corrective and preventative action for Quality issues and Non-conformances.

    • Ensure Implementation of Food safety, Quality, Environment and Safety Management Systems according to FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, ISO14001 and BS 18001 requirements respectively

    • Maintain the plant hygiene standards for a food production facility in liaison with the cleaning service provider

    • Participate in CAPEX project implementation in the blending plant

    • Participate in trouble shooting product/equipment non-conformance/ breakdowns

    • Operate and maintain the sugar dissolving plant 4.

    • Operate and maintain Kenya cane syrup plant

    • Receive raw materials (flavours and sugar) from the Main stores

    Kenya Breweries Ltd is the largest producer of alcoholic and adult non-alcoholic beverages in the country. At the Nairobi site, the company has a capacity of >5.5 million HLs of beer and >1.5million for spirits.

    The Quality Department is responsible for developing and monitoring systems to control the quality of beer and spirits with the aim being to achieve the highest quality standard product that meets and exceeds customer expectations.

    This role works closely with Operators, Production team leaders, Line managers and the Quality Manager amongst other stakeholders in production of Beer &Spirits.

    KBL Nairobi Site comprises of several departments including Brewing, Packaging, Utilities/Engineering, Logistics & warehousing among others with critical interdependencies with the Quality department.

    • To monitor process performance, CCPs, SICs and maintain accurate data across all processes.

    • Sustaining the hygiene state of the Laboratory’s plants in accordance to the food safety standard by ensuring cleaning schedule is adhered to and CI activities are carried out to eliminate sources of dirt.

    • Actively Participate in quality improvement workstreams identified in area of operation

    Qualifications and Experience Required:

    Qualifications:

    • BSc. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Industrial /Analytical Chemistry

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 - 3 years relevant work experience.

    • Knowledge of Quality, Safety and Environmental Management systems.

    • Working Knowledge in Quality Management Systems, Brewing and Packaging process.
