    Partnerships Officer (Private Sector & Foundations), SC9

    Foundations Partnerships Support & Coordination

    • Ensure the effective and efficient implementation of the Novo Nordisk Project activities – under the Private Partnerships Unit and ensure timely submission of NNF phase one deliverables and reporting.
    • Support Country Offices to effectively communicate project progress, results and strategic communications to the donor and other stakeholders through reports and other materials to improve transparency and accountability.
    • Support the Foundations Manager in strengthening WFP’s partnerships portfolio with the NNF. Also support the Foundations Manager in the development of the proposal for the second phase of NNF collaboration, thematically informed by the joint programme-partnership working group.
    • In close collaboration with the programme-partnership working group, support the development of a joint communications and advocacy plan for the duration of the partnership.
    • In close collaboration with the programme-partnership working group, provide technical oversight, guidance and inputs to Country Office project focal points into programmatic strategy, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation and ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes that complies with WFP standards and procedure.
    • Work closely with RBN Budget and Programming Unit and Finance to provide guidance for financial reporting in line with NNF’s required templates.

    Private Sector Partnerships

    • Work closely with CAM unit to do scripting for video and article stories around HGSF in Rwanda and Uganda to be widely circulated on social media, external, internal, and donor platforms.
    • Lead the identification, development, and management of high-value regional and multi-country partnerships, including Public-Private Partnerships, with major donors, foundations, and businesses.
    • Lead development of quarterly Private Sector updates support to broader partnership and resourcing efforts.
    • Support new strategic and operational partnerships with private sector entities for further partnering (prospecting, pitching, etc.).
    • Act as partnership’s focal point and collaborate closely with programme teams in the RB on strategic partnership engagement and development.
    • Work together with the broader Partnerships, Innovation and Comms team on innovative approaches to private sector engagement for fundraising opportunities and advocacy.
    • Contribute to broader local, regional and global partnership objectives by supporting related tasks like strategic positioning of WFP and ensuring an integrated approach across the partnership team.
    • Support as needed other private sector initiatives and engagement with existing and new partners.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Education: University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition, Food Technology, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, and/or another relevant field.

    Experience:

    • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in the humanitarian and development field, partnerships, private sector, project management and relationship management with partners;
    • Technical skills & knowledge of project management;
    • Experience in proposal development and programme design;
    • Monitoring and reporting knowledge;
    • Experience with private sector / Innovations partnerships;
    • Humanitarian & Development experience in Eastern Africa;

    Innovation Associate, SC6

    Design and Lead WFP innovation hub programmes and activities

    • Lead the implementation of innovation programmes (for example IGNITE innovation challenges, Seed innovation programme), supporting local ventures and bringing local innovations to WFP’s programming and operations.   
    • Manage the coordination of scale up innovation strategy development and project coordination for projects scaling up in WFP’s programmes and operations.
    • Support with learning, impact collection, and documentation of case studies for relevant innovation projects, enabling regional lessons learnt and impact reporting and continuous improvement of innovation projects and programmes. 

    Manage partnerships development and communication to amplify innovation

    • Lead the work with Country Offices and the Innovation Hub to map stakeholder ecosystems and identify and build partnerships with local and global partners for innovation.    
    • Lead on developing a fundraising strategy and plan for the Innovation Hub together with COs.
    • Manage and refresh the Regional and CO communication strategy for innovation work. Prepare and update accordingly innovation fact sheets and communications to ensure information sharing with donors, partners, and other key stakeholders.
    • Generate, edit, and publish content on regional social media to create visibility for regional and CO innovation work. Oversee regional social media accounts design, traffic metrics, respond to followers, and stay up to date with relevant trends that can be deployed under WFP Communications guidance.
    • Be a contact point with regional communications team for approvals, advisory, and support required from innovation team.

    Manage the alumni network comprised of ventures from previous programs. 

    • Collaborate with implementing partners to engage alumni through events, communication, and surveys, ensuring updated venture records and timely sharing of relevant opportunities.
    • Identify and promote internal opportunities for ventures to contribute to Country Offices (COs) and Regional Bureaus (RBs) programs, catalyzing discussions to assess feasibility.
    • Coordinate with the innovation hub to establish platforms, events, and activities that enable the alumni community to regularly connect, share knowledge, network, and stay informed about the hub's opportunities.
    • Occasionally engage the alumni to gather information for the WFP data room enabling them leverage the impact fund.

    Support other Innovation activities.

    • Support other innovation programs and activities such as innovation challenges, learning & knowledge management, innovative financing, comms etc. as per the requirement and guidance of your supervisor.

    EXPECTED DELIVERABLES:

    • Support to successful launch of innovation programs/trainings/capacity building initiatives.
    • Documented partnerships and fundraising strategy for innovation.
    • Successful partnerships identified and built across the region for innovation activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    Education:

    • First university degree in Business Administration, Finance, Entrepreneurship, International Development, Environmental Science, Development Economics, or any other relevant field.

    Experience:

    • At least 3 years of related professional experience.

    Partnerships Development Officer, SC9

    ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Under the overall supervision of the Development Consultant, the incumbent will:

    • Support the development of an approach for RB’s main diversification areas, outlining major opportunities and pathways within the region towards diversification. Scope, funding opportunities and channels of funding, and connect and coordinate with the innovation and private sector partnership teams to expand opportunities to private sector and innovative finance Contribute to HQ-led cross-fertilization between RBs by sharing best practices, lessons learned, and areas for improvement.
    • Actively support HQ-led Knowledge Management and Learning (KM&L) activities by using existing knowledge tools, supporting the development and dissemination of new knowledge products, participating in global KM&L initiatives, and ensuring alignment with HQ strategies.
    • Contribute to the drafting of quality proposals and concept notes, including by coordinating and soliciting inputs from other functional entities, RBs and COs on WFP’s programmatic offering. Support the management of projects in the RB, with a specific focus on supporting COs with the management of new partnerships (agreements, reporting etc.).
    • Contribute to the preparation of strategic agreements, joint strategies and MOUs. Contribute to quarterly progress reports on the implementation of the CCI.
    • Other needs as required.

    DELIVERABLES:

    5 (five) concept notes and proposals formulated for COs, with support provided for related negotiations with partners to advance the funding diversification effort. A paper outlining major diversification opportunities within the region and pathways to move towards diversification, including a mapping of existing and potential/new partnership opportunities in the region. Contribution to a HQ-led toolkit for funding diversification, including templates and guidance the following KM&L activities.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    Education: University Degree in Business administration, Social Sciences, Humanities, Food Security or a related area with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.

    Experience:

    • At least three years’ experience in an area related to humanitarian and development resourcing and project management, preferably in the East Africa region. Knowledge and understanding of the United Nations is helpful.
    • Technical skills & knowledge of project management;
    • Experience in proposal development and programme design;
    • Monitoring and reporting knowledge;
    • Experience with private sector / Innovations partnerships;
    • Humanitarian & Development experience in Eastern Africa;
