    Full-time Faculty, Medical Oncologist, Department of Haemato/Oncology

    Responsibilities

    1. The successful applicant will be committed to advancing best practice in their discipline, meet the quality and patient safety standards of an internationally accredited university hospital. Successful applicants, besides providing tertiary care clinical services will develop their academic career in teaching and research. In education the focus will remain on resident and medical oncology fellowship training programs and planned introduction of undergraduate training.
    2. The appointee will have an independent consultant status as a Medical Oncologist and shall undertake clinical activities as well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and research.

    Requirements

    1. Applicants must have completed a structured postgraduate training program in Medical Oncology from a reputable organization 
    2. Should possess exit board certification such as FCPS, American Boards, CCST (UK) or equivalent in the specialty of Medical Oncology. 
    3. Must have independent clinical experience as a Medical Oncologist of at least 2 years post exit qualification
    4. Should be registered or eligible for registration with Kenya Medical Practitioners’ & Dentists Board as a specialist. 
    5. Should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    6. Have demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team. 
    7. Applicants with scholarly contributions to research, teaching and publications are preferred.

    Consultant - Protocol Writing in Ethnography

    Job Summary
    The purpose of this assignment is to develop protocol to carry out a household-based ethnographic work to identify sources of resilient children and their families within communities in Arid and Semi-Arid regions of Kenya and Tanzania. The research protocol will solicit research permit from the ethics and review boards, as well as guide the design and implementation of the research activities.

    Responsibilities

    1. Develop a research protocol expounding on the design proposed in the awarded research proposal in consultation with the Principal Investigator
    2. Develop a clear research implementation plan to aid immediate roll-out and successful delivery of the research outcomes

    Requirements

    1. Solid expertise in developing research proposals and protocols
    2. Strong background in ethnographic research approach
    3. An academic background in Anthropology and/or Sociology is highly desirable

    Research Assistant – Laboratory Technologist, Pathology Department

    Job Summary
    The successful candidate will conduct all laboratory bench work, biorepository activities and documentation related to the PERICOVID study at AKUHN and other study sites.

    Responsibilities

    1. Maintain relevant databases and filing systems 
    2. Ensure optimal management of the PRECISE study biorepository
    3. Perform relevant sample analysis, including ELISA
    4. Submit progress reports on a timely fashion
    5. Take minutes during meetings
    6. Coordinate with other team members to ensure flawless execution of PRECISE and PERICOVID studies

    Requirements

    1. B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent from a recognized institution
    2. 3 years relevant working experience
    3. Must be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technician Board
    4. Competency in blood sample collection, processing of blood samples including preparation of buffy coat and slides, sample analysis on automated chemistry and/or haematology analysers, maintenance of sample logs to ensure ease of retrieval of samples and relevant data
    5. Should be able to perform ELISA
    6. Involvement in previous research studies especially in a biorepository will be an added advantage
