    Community Liaison Officer (Samburu)

    Position Summary: 

    To oversee the planning and implementation of adherence, retention and community linkage services at USAID Tujenge Jamii- supported facilities within the county.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Participate in the training of health facility-based staff and the community in stigma reduction
    • Provide leadership in the design and coordination of the training activities in Retention, adherence support for community health workers, Peer Educators and Link desk person
    • Ensure implementation of the defaulter tracing tools and system as per SOPs and in line with the national guidelines
    • Provide technical assistance to health care facilities to conduct planning, implementation and evaluation of patient tracing and retention systems and related data management, data quality assurance, data summarization and analysis
    • Coordinate community activities including contact tracing, Community ART Groups, community dialogue meetings and defaulter tracing.
    • Work closely with community stakeholders including CSO and CBO to ensure quality integrated HIV services delivery within the community
    • Identify and disseminate best practices in HIV retention and adherence programming within the community

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Diploma/ Advanced diploma in Social sciences; Community development, Counselling psychology or equivalent. Degree will be an added advantage.
    • Three (3) years project management experience working in adherence, counseling and psychosocial support and community linkages in HIV care and treatment
    • Possess adequate facilitation, mentoring and counseling skills
    • Familiarity with community HIV Retention interventions and facility retention programs including peer education.

    Associate Technical Officer (Water Sanitation & Hygiene), Nakuru

    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    Under the guidance of the project SBCC Technical Officer, manager the Associate Technical Officer -WaSH, provides technical oversight to the overall project WaSH interventions. S/he will oversee integration of WaSH interventions within the HIV/RMNCAH program. The ATO-WaSH will support a broad range of WaSH project management activities, including design, planning, implementation and evaluation. The position holder will also undertake reporting, technical thought leadership, documentation of best practices and success stories and facilitation of knowledge sharing among relevant stakeholders. S/he will work closely with the department of health services in the County to support and ensure WaSH system strengthening.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    Provide technical leadership and direction for integrated WaSH interventions as per programming needs and standards. Timely planning, execution, monitoring and reporting on WaSH activities as per the USAID Tujenge Jamii project mandate. Ensure effective communication and coordination for integrated WaSH interventions with and among Sub-County stakeholders including but not limited to MOH and MOE to maintain an active and engaged partnership. Provide technical assistance for WaSH systems strengthening, facilitate capacity building, document and share knowledge and lessons learned through relevant forums and platforms. Strengthen WaSH coordination platforms and ensure appropriate representation at key partner National, County and Sub-County WaSH TWGs, events and meetings. Participate in discussions, prepare and deliver presentations, etc. Develop strategies and plans to implement integrated WaSH programs and support grassroots organizations such community based organizations for their capacity building, including their progress monitoring and reporting. Oversee, monitor and support the progress of integration of WaSH into HIV/RMNCAH activities. Ensure quality of all project WaSH deliverables and present program results, based on solid M&E procedures to USAID Tujenge Jamii project partners at County and Sub-County level and other platforms as required. Contribute to the WaSH knowledge management through documentation, presentation of best practices, provision of information on the WaSH project activities among others. Take up any other assignments as may be delegated by the supervisor and the project management.

    Desirable/qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or Public Health. Over 5 years of experience working in water, sanitation and hygiene or child survival program, with experience in participatory methodologies and sanitation marketing. Demonstrated experience in WaSH systems strengthening. Knowledge and experience designing and implementing saitation and hygiene behaviour change communication strategies. Experience in providing technical assistance.
