The Role
Senior Project Manager – Major Mixed Use
We require a Senior Project Manager for our newly established business in Kenya for forthcoming major projects.
In addition to major project experience, you will require the stakeholder management and communication skills necessary to operate in a culturally diverse location.
Responsibilities Include
- Reporting to the Project Director, responsible for the delivery of a major High-end mixed-use development.
- Working in a client facing role, responsible for developing the clients’ strategy, through to managing the delivery through the extended professional team of Local and International Consultants and Contractors.
- Responsible for developing the clients brief, delivery strategy and execution of the scheme.
- Responsible for establishing and managing a high performing team that strives for quality, safety, cost and schedule improvements at every opportunity with all delivery partners, challenging and seeking to improve the project deliverables.
- Responsible for seeing that the highest standards of Health and Safety are considered as a priority through all stages of the project.
It is essential that you can demonstrate a clear, systematic approach to solving complex issues and are able to communicate solutions in an effective, efficient, high level manner.
This position is located in Kenya, hence it is essential that you are prepared to live and work in Kenya full time.
Requirements:
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Major Project (+£50m) experience is essential.
- International project delivery experience is an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be required.
- Demonstrable leadership qualities are essential.
- Excellent technical grounding in all aspects of project management.
- Excellent knowledge of all methods of procurement.
- Experience of advising clients on Value management, Value Engineering and the full Project Life Cycle.
- Detailed knowledge and appreciation of Health and Safety is essential.
Qualifications
- Relevant Degree Qualifications is preferred but not essential.
- Professional Memberships are an advantage but not essential.

The Opportunity

The Role
Based in Nairobi and working on an industrial plant relocation project.
Responsibilities Include
- Day to day management of operations on site, ensuring that the project is brought to a successful completion and meets the required time, budget and quality constraints.
- Ensuring timely management of any unforeseen delays.
- Plan and efficiently organise the site facilities and logistics, ensuring all equipment on site is fit for purpose and only operated by appropriately trained staff.
- Oversee the deliveries and ensure they are done so in adequate time in line with the construction programme and procurement schedule.
- Supervise, manage and motivate all site team including effective management of sub-contractor activities on site ensuring they are engaged, on target in line with the master programme.
- Ensure workmanship and material standards are achieved in accordance with specifications, building regulations, health and safety legislation as well as quality standards.

- A strong track record in working on construction sites in Kenya.
- Ability to stand alone, make decisions and proceed with confidence.

- Strong commercial acumen.
