    HIV Testing Services Counsellor

    Job Summary: 

    The role of this position is to provide HIV risk assessment, risk reduction counselling, drug addiction counseling, HIV Testing Services (HTS) and related evidence-based interventions (EBI) as a minimum package to the Key Populations (KPs), provide appropriate referrals and submits reports as and when needed. Ensure HTS commodities are kept safely and records/reports generated in time.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide quality HTS services according to NASCOP standards in a confidential manner.
    • Implement efficient identification strategies such as SNS, index case testing, and enhanced peer outreach approach (EPOA).
    • Provide counseling to KPs regarding the use and effects of alcohol and drugs.
    • Offered rehabilitative counseling to drug addicts based on cognitive behavioral therapies.
    • Responsible for client linkage to care and treatment as well as ensuring targets are achieved.
    • Follow-up clients for routine quarterly HTS services.
    • Conduct correct, accurate, timely recording and reporting of HTS in the relevant registers are done.
    • Conduct regular physical stock updates of supplies and test kits within his/her custody.
    • Provide appropriate and effective referral of clients to care and treatment among other services.
    • Adherence to existing SOPs and protocols as in the HTC orientation package manual.
    • Ensure implementation of all national QA/QC systems.
    • Adherence counselling to ART clients to promote ART uptake.
    • Perform any other program work as assigned by the supervisors.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations, and referrals.
    • Ensure all client data collected are keyed into the respective electronic data platforms.

    Minimum Required Qualifications:

    • Education: Diploma in Social Services/Community Health or equivalent, must have credible certificate in HTS, NASCOP certificate in relevant EBI and Drug and Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate is an added advantage
    • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience as an active service provider

    Clinical Officer

    Job Summary: 

    The Clinical Officer will be responsible for provision of leadership and quality clinical services at the outreach/static sites. Will be the point of contact of program at the drop-in service center (DiCE) level and coordinate the program with relevant stakeholders at the sub-county(ies) level.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Support and coordinate the running of the DiCE.
    • Ensure 100% KP Prev targets achievement.
    • Provide and ensure quality of community clinical outreach services as planned by Nurse Counsellor, other service providers, and Peer Educators.
    • Mentor the clinical service providers in the DiCE and ensure services are rendered as per the standard operation procedures.
    • Counter check the data collections tools and do correction on them before submitting them to the Data/M&E Assistant.
    • Offer clinical services to KPs in the DiCE and outreaches (PrEP, ART, CACX screening, IPT, and TB screening and treatment, Post Violence Care).
    • Screening and treatment of STIs.
    • Compile and submit monthly reports to KP Officer by 3rd of every month.
    • Organize routine (weekly) staff meeting to review and evaluate the program progress and initiate CQI projects on areas identified for improvement.
    • Ensure all data collected are keyed in the relevant electronic data bases.
    • Develop and share DiCE work plans.
    • Any other program duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.
    • Ensure safety of the program assets.
    • Promote effective working relations with sub-county stakeholders.

     Minimum Required Qualifications:

    • Education: Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized training institution and in possession of a registration certificate issued by Clinical Officers Council
    • ART and PrEP certificate will be an added advantage
    • Experience: Two (2) years’ relevant experience working in a clinical setting

    Nurse Counsellor - 2 Positions

    Job Summary: 

    The Nurse Counsellor will be responsible for provision of clinical services both at the drop-in center (DiCE) and outreaches. They will coordinate and take charge to oversee clinical services at the outreach sites and supervise Peer Educators (PEs) and Outreach Workers (ORWs) to enhance optimum Key Population (KP) community mobilization for services.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Focal person at the DiCE in coordinating PEs, ORWs, and PHDP champions, ensuring community mobilization is optimized towards KP Prev target achievement.
    • Render ART services to KPs as per the National guidelines for ART.
    • Ensure all clients initiated on ART are screened for TB and all those eligible for IPT are initiated on IPT.
    • Screening and treatment of STIs as per the current algorithm.
    • Offer cervical cancer screening to sex workers.
    • Take lead of clinical services at the outreach sites.
    • Support the DiCE in charge populate monthly reports in ART, TB, and other clinical services rendered.
    • Ensure completeness of the clients’ folders and entry to respective registers including cohort registers and Kenya EMR.
    • Any other program duty as may be assigned by the supervisor 

    Minimum Required Qualifications:

    • Education: Diploma in Nursing/clinical medicine with a valid practicing license and registered with reputable Council in Kenya
    • Experience: Two (2) years’ working experience in a clinical setting (experience in KP is an added advantage)
