    Investigative Assistant (Nairobi)

    Basic Function of the Position:

    The Investigative Assistant (IA) assists in an array of sensitive and complex criminal investigations related to document fraud, human smuggling, trafficking in persons, and other criminal issues as directed by the Assistant Regional Security Officer- Investigator (ARSO-I). The job holder provides investigative, analytical, and administrative support in the operation of the Diplomatic Security (DS) Overseas Criminal Investigations (OCI) program at post. The job holder updates the ongoing investigations database in Department of State (DOS) computer systems, and controls access of sensitive information. The IA must be able to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

    Experience:  Minimum of three (3) years of administrative, investigative analysis, legal, or law enforcement-related experience is required. 

    Education Requirements:

    Education:   Two years of general college or university study is required.

    Evaluations:

    Language:  English (Fluent) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.  This may be tested.

    Skills and Ability: Attention to detail and accuracy required as well as proficiency in Microsoft Suite to include PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and in house applications such as MyData, and MyServices. Ability to prioritize and organize tasks to accomplish the workload. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are mandatory to develop cooperative working relationships. Could work flexible hours and in different sections at short notice. Requires a non sensitive Public Trust security clearance.

    Information Management Assistant (Nairobi)

    The incumbent serves as an Information Management Assistant (IMA) assigned to support the classified or unclassified computer networks and messaging systems as needed.  The IMA also assists with telephone and radio management, circuit and network management, The IMA reports to an assigned direct hire Information Systems Officer (ISO).

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

    Experience

    Two years of office management or technical experience is required.  Work related  experience should demonstrate a high level of organizational skills, ability to adhere to regulations, aptitude for paying attention to detail, and use of IT software and equipment.

    Education Requirements:

    • High School diploma is required.
    • Evaluations:
    • Language: Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing of English is required. (This may be tested)

    Skills and abilities: 

    Must have an excellent working knowledge of Department of State customer service principles and the ability to manage ISC computer systems without long-term assistance.  The ability to work both independently and in a team environment, responds to requests in a timely fashion, and resourceful in finding solutions to problems. Must be able to work effectively in the IT environment, maintain constructive communication when addressing customer requests, and closing out tasks.  Must be able to coherently document problems, remedies, and write procedures that will be utilized by colleagues.  Position requires a Top Secret clearance.
