Bamburi Cement Plc is looking to employ a Cement Mill Patroller to join our Nairobi Grinding Plant. The role reports to the Production Foreman.
The opportunity at a glance
The position reports directly to the Production Foreman and is responsible for carrying out safe, accurate and timely analysis and provides a report of the same for prompt preventive and corrective actions on the production process and product quality. It is also responsible for carrying out used to calculate the plants laboratory accuracy index and has a functional relationship with production, maintenance and packing plant.
Your responsibilities
- Ensure that Plant field operations are done in full compliance to the Holcim Health, Safety and Environment rules and policies, operating procedures (SOPs) for zero harm in our operations and prevent potential environmental spills of dust/cement and or oils from major equipment during Plant operations
- Provide direct on site supervision of shift activities as Lafarge Safety Contractor Coordinator working closely with the Production Foreman.
- Diligently implement all available standard operating procedures, job risk analysis for various jobs undertaken in the shift.
- Perform pre-start checks including testing of equipment and confirm to Production Foreman that equipment is ready for start-up.
- Obtain approval (work permit) from the Production Foreman before starting any task at site for cleaning or minor repair jobs.
- Assist the maintenance team for jobs requiring coordination between maintenance and production or rectifying emergency failures of equipment
- Carry out first level inspections against the checklists and check that parameters are within specified limits.
- Complete the handover checklist for good quality corrective actions for deviations to Production
- Foreman to generate work notifications in SAP.
- Inspect the flap gates, hoppers, filter ducts, chutes and other shop equipment during operation to confirm and ensure smooth material flow with no blockages.
- Cleans up where blockages & build-ups exist.
- Take stocks for Cement, Fuel oil and water as required and enter the results in the log book.
- Manage the AF bags confirmation per shift to ensure accurate reporting of bags per hour.

Your experience
This job may be for you if you have:
- A minimum of a diploma in electrical/mechanical engineering.
- Good knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
- At least 2 years work experience in a process related industry
- Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
- Good knowledge of cement manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Integrity and honesty

- Microsoft Office – Word, excel, PowerPoint
- Driving Licence holder.

Bamburi Special Products Ltd is looking to employ a Batch Plant Operator to join our team. The role reports to the Site Supervisor.
The opportunity at a glance
The position reports directly to the Site Supervisor and is responsible for operating the batch plant in order to meet production targets, product quality and delivery schedules, complying to set environmental and safety standards
Your responsibilities
- Perform work in compliance with the group health and safety policies, standards and procedures and adhere to the internal health and safety policies, procedure, safe work instructions and risk assessments prior to execution of work.
- Operate the batch plant in order to meet production targets, product quality, and delivery schedules.
- Make all the corresponding control adjustments to ensure production efficiency.
- Monitor concrete results to check for quality standards.
- Conduct troubleshooting to solve problems that affect process and equipment operation.
- Monitor all operating parameters of the equipment through periodic checking and inspection
- Ensures proper cleaning and maintenance of the central mixer on a daily basis at the end of batching
- Report any notifications needed to schedule repair of the equipment
