Position summary: The Adolescent Peer Leads will work closely with study participants to identify and address barriers to engagement in care, provide psychosocial support, and work resourcefully to re-engage them in HIV care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for delivering e-navigation and in-person navigation intervention with regular contact per study protocol.
- Conduct participant recruitment, screening, informed consent, and randomization/re- randomization.
- Complete study surveys, evaluations and enter data into ODK
- Conduct home visits and follow ups for study participants
- Trace patients by phone and or in the field
- Maintain strong positive relationships with community and community leaders to facilitate tracing activities.
- Assist caregivers and adolescents with disclosure support
- Assist in defaulter tracking
- Work closely with study participants to identify and address barriers to engagement in care, provide psychosocial support, and work resourcefully to re-engage them in HIV care.
- Maintain study registers, logs, and files and make sure all study documents are kept secure and locked.
- Write reports and participate in study meetings as required.
- Engagement in adolescent support groups.
Qualifications
- Must have form Four Certificate
- Must be living with HIV and provide evidence of a CCC number in a facility of enrollment and be ready to disclose.
- Must come from the community they serve
- Possess a desire to work compassionately with adolescent and young people
- Must be proficient in English, Swahili and local dialect spoken in the health facility catchment area.
- Strong knowledge of local community, culture and geography
- Excellent computer skills
- Leadership experience preferred (e.g. from school, church or any other)

- Send daily site reports
- Communicate regularly with the Study Coordinators and other study staff and will respond to data and study queries with information and reports as required

- Maintain study registers, logs, and files and make sure all study documents are kept secure and locked
- Write reports and participate in study meetings as require

Program description;
This program is a collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute, the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, and other organizations and donors. It involves conducting research and programmatic support for activities related to Malaria, HIV, Tuberculosis and other diseases. The TB laboratory has the following opening:

Reports to: Laboratory Director
Essential Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Biochemistry from a recognized college/university.
- Proficiency in the use of computers.
- MUST be registered with KMLTTB
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be able to perform assigned laboratory diagnostic procedures, i.e. assays, tests
- Provide technical support on the development of laboratory tools (SOPS, guides, aids) for testing, results interpretation and dissemination
- Perform molecular laboratory procedures i.e. PCR techniques such DNA extractions is recommended
- Develop laboratory budgets and procurement plans on the basis of on-going laboratory work
- Implement research projects and/or supervise designated aspects of the work
- Analyze and prepare reports for conference presentation and publications for peer review and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and participants’ privacy
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by immediate supervisor
Terms of Employment:
Employment is a one (1) year renewable contract with probation period for the first 3 months. Salary is negotiable within the appropriate KEMRI salary scale depending on education, experience and demonstrated competency.
